    Hello all.

We are trying to plan our summer hols, but I have lost interest LOL. I need to pay some Attention otherwise it will be booked around various steam trains which are OH and DS passion. I don't mind a pretty trip but will be fed up if it is the whole focus. We have told DD that she doesn't have to come with us anymore :(. She will be 18 in July so we can't really make her.

DDs audition went well, she thinks. We don't know if she has got through to the next round. She has decided not to try for RADA as it seems they rarely take anyone so young and it is expensive to audition. She has also opted out of Liverpool this week as she doesn't like the course or the area.

My work week that I was dreading has gone okay so far. Day off tomorrow :T. OH and I are off to ikea first thing to get a new wardrobe. We broke up the old one as it had dreaded carpet moth  OH will then go to work, leaving me to put it up, its best I do it as the language gets rather too ripe if he does:rotfl:

We are trying to use up the contents of the freezer. Today oH and dS had some beef in beer, I had a mince hot pot and DD had a veggie bake. More of same tomorrow :D. I can't even see what's in freezer easily as it is so full, hopefully we should clear some space this week.

I have just cut out a load of squares to make my first patchwork quilt. I have five different types. I am just going to put them together randomly, no two the same together and hope for the best. I will learn as I go, I hope.

Good deal on the clothes FTM. I have decided to only buy clothes with the various vouchers I got for Christmas and my birthday. I I don't really need anything so spending vouchers is justifiable and I will only buy when I see something. I really like.

Keep your powder dry everyone :D
I wanna be in the room where it happens

  • Afternoon all, I have just been very thrifty and made a big vat of soup from some unhappy looking broccoli and half a floppy cauliflower that were lurking in the bottom of the fridge then I grated up all the little dry tail ends of cheeses that were still hanging about from christmas and it was YUMMY!!! lots more left for the next couple of days too. We're still dry here, clouding over though so I'm off in the not too distant for a constitutional with my boy before the promised showers start falling. Got a bargain in the Co-Op the other day, an 8 serving Orange Topped Christmas Pud to use by this June for £1.75p so I've cut it into 4 x 2 person portions and individually wrapped them in clingfilm, popped them back into the plastic basin it came in and put it in the freezer, I couldn't make one for that price and I know they'll keep Mmmmmmmm..... love christmas pud!!!

FTM your clothes buy sounds wonderful, real bargain stuff, well done you and also for first refusal on the excess to needs items from your brothers house move, brilliant eh? I think Simons old boss must now realise just how much work he did compared to the others and that is why he's so anxious to try to bring him back, stand firm though, you're all so much better with life as it is now, particularly Simon aren't you? Love the idea of the National Trust membership and days out next summer, there really is so much that is good and interesting out there, go enjoy!!!

Stay warm everyone, it's supposed to be getting colder in the next few days so wrap up warm and make lots of soup!!! Lyn xxx.

Hi everyone, hope you are all OK.

It is very cold here today and the gritter has just been up and down the road so frost is expected.

DD1 has a date for her operation, the 4th February. It is quite a serious operation on her right leg and I do so hope she has less pain when this has been done.

DGD1 really enjoyed her first driving lesson on Monday and is excited now about having a licence. I told her the world will be her oyster once she is able to drive. A big regret of mine that I never learned.

Kate enjoy your spa pamper day, you should be feeling good by the end of it, almost laid back.

FTM Himself is fine thank you, we have both lost a little more weight and he is having to buy new trousers and belts.

Didn't you do well with the clothing bundles, did everything fit Fern and Iris? I hope your package is just as exciting.

Poor Simon they won't leave him alone will they, surely his ex Manager must know there isn't any chance of him going back. How exciting to have a new look kitchen, you lucky girl. Will you change colours in the kitchen or will that stay the same?

MLW poor Docky he doesn't know what to make of everything does he, what with fireworks and thunder storms. You did well with the Christmas pudding, I saw something similar in M&S, but I am quite sure it wasn't £1.75.

SM my Sister and Brother in law are off again to the Sunshine State on Saturday, hope the weather is OK for them. Will you be on your way home soon?

AOL I do hope that chest infection leaves you soon, you poor thing. I know how they hang about and sometimes you need a couple of courses of antibiotics to clear it. Keep warm anyway and drink plenty of fluids, I don't suppose you feel like eating much.

Well I think that is all my news for now, take care everyone and stay warm.

    Much love

    Hi all..
MLW..ooh that soup sounds gorgeous..and what a tip for christmas puddings..slicing and freezing wonderful..i will have to do that,i often get a weird craving for it in the middle of summer.
Hubby is sat planning the kitchen ..pencil,paper,tape measure and a price list..
We are hoping now that his boss will finally get the message..he is a persistent so and so..i used to go to £land once a month to stock up on toiletries and school supplies..i daren't set foot in there now.
Candlelight..hello..o wow wonderful you have both lost weight..well done..
My bundle arrived this morning and its wonderful..the jean are a size 12 and a bit loose around the waist but am not complaining about that..the top is lovely and the cardigan is a gorgeous thick wooly affair in a beautiful rich green..
The girls clothes fit them perfectly if a little long in the legs..that doesn't matter though they are growing like weeds and will soon out grow them am sure of that.
Yes i am planning on changing the colour of my kitchen..not sure what yet but something will take my eye..
Apparently if we go outside later on we will be able to see the northern lights tonight..hope so its a bit chilly to keep nipping out and checking..i keep sending oh out lol...
O yes my new food mixer arrived today...that ebay seller got full marks plus an email from me to say i appreciate the after sales service..

VJ'S mum..did you get the wardrobe up..and well done your girl..i have a friend who's son went to the RADA academy..he did very well ..but got homesick a lot..

Hi all, by gum it's cold here this afternoon, and wet which is making it feel colder still, mind you, what else do I expect, it is January after all!!! Poor old Docky is even reacting to rain pattering on the windows at the moment CANDLELIGHT and shakes like a leaf and tries to hide and run, I don't seem to be able to make any difference to him so we just put the music on in the study and sit here on the computer to let him be under the desk until he feels it's safe to come out again. He'll most likely be better when we get calmer weather but he's a poor old lad at the moment.

I noticed on our walk this afternoon that none of the trees on the foorpath have even begun to bud up yet and also that the daffodils that have colonised the grassy areas are still only just showing tips of leaves, normally they are blooming before christmas on the sunny corners where they're sheltered. How's everything looking where you all live? this is odd to put it mildly, the only sign of spring is that the hazel catkins are out and have dropped into the usual lambs tails on some of the bushes and I wouldn't say we'd had any proper cold weather at all this winter so far. Even the Puttywillow bushes are still not showing grey tips most strange.

Have a nice weekend everyone and enjoy any sunshine and dry weather that comes your way, Lyn xxx.

Puttywillow being unusual spelling but the filter won't let me use the cat related word, just get exclamation marks, sorry!!!
  • Mother Nature is getting her knickers in a knot over here too - I saw a squirrel bouncing about yesterday in the woods. Catkins have been out for about two weeks...but no bulbs poking through the ground yet though

Its been a busy week at work - starting to get an increasing number of referrals for cases with pending Court Action or Notice Seeking Possession Action for rent arrears coming through at the moment. Many people chose to spend, spend, spend in the pre-Christmas euphoria instead of paying priority debts and are sadly struggling in the New Year. :(

  • Hello everyone,

It has been a glorious day here but very cold. Was able to throw all the windows open this morning, but have just been round to close them now before the house becomes chilled.

I am really not sure about Mother Nature at the moment. We have roses in bloom (not many) but a few, the leaves of the nasturiums(sp) I planted in the summer are still here, the frost hasn't affected them, and my poppies are making a lot of leaf. We also have a squirrel who visits us every day looking for food. In saying that parts of our lawns are like bogs because of poor drainage.

Lynn we used to have a beautiful golden retriever who was the love of our life, outside of children and grandchildren, but he was at the end of the line when courage was given out. He would greet everyone who came to the door with a cushion, friend or foe, hated water therefore hated having a bath and expected all other dogs we met on our walks to be his friend. He really couldn't understand why some were aggresive towards him. He was DD2 originally but when she married and left home he stayed with us. We had him for 11 wonderful years and were absolutely heartbroken when we had to have him put to sleep.

FTM did you manage to see the northern lights? I imagine they must be fairly spectacular.

Went shopping first thing this morning, and then cleaned house from top to bottom. Himself hoovered upstairs for me, whilst I cleaned bathroom, dusted and cleaned the windows and then the same downstairs, so just having a little rest now.

Hope you all have a good weekend and manage to keep warm and dry.

    Much love
