Sometimes a national standard becomes a de facto international standard - as in the initials DIN.
Sometimes we get a near global co-operation, such as CERN, a co-operation with Uncle Sam and "inventors" of the world wide web.
....and sometimes, very occasionally, there is a difference
"Thalidomide" being a notorious example.
I tend to agree, but in the case of 'Cold Fusion'/LENR 'in a box' there seems to be considerable scepticism amongst the scientific community. A single test plant made available to an international team in an international facility makes total sense, if only from the point of view that it can be fully supported by the team of inventors too, something which would be extremely unlikely is there were to be multiple tests throughout the world.
When it comes down to it, the claim has been made that a machine which has been built works and is on the cusp of commercial viability, this being completely different to testing observed results through experiment in order to duplicate results as has happened within LENR in the past .... in this case, the machine either works or not and for it to be a commercial viability it would need to be immediately obvious that it is working.

Maybe I'm thinking of another similar device, but wasn't it demonstrated last year in front of a group of people / press?
However, it requires some energy from an energy supply (obviously doh!) to get it going, before giving out energy.
If I remember correctly they wouldn't say how much went in, or came out during the demo, which raised some concerns.
I think it's on a YouTube clip, or maybe I was watching some skateboarding cats!

Correct .... that was raised in a previous discussion on this unit. From memory (!) the required input energy created a COP which was lower than that of a GSHP .... what really confounds me is that if the unit generates electricity with a positive COP (output/input) then why would the unit not be self-sustaining once running ?? ..... this is probably the main reason why I'm really sceptical.
Regarding people/press .... I'd guess that it'd be pretty easy to convince many people that for a given amount of energy(electricity) input into a whirring box outputting more energy (metered heat) is explainable as a LENR therefore proving the system to work and this illusion can be maintained as long as you don't allow the box to be opened, and of course, the contents being 'secret' and subject to pending 'IPO' registration opening the box would be avoided ..... I'm pretty sure that Albyota or any renewable heating engineer is eminently capable of building an ASHP into a 'black box' and conducting a believeable LENR demonstration to the press, as could many a chemist with a couple of basic chemicals, notably Soduim acetate as used in re-usable handwarmers utilising a 'fusion' reaction which releases considerable heat by moving from a supersaturated solution to crystal form by simply using shock as a catalyst ... this is exactly why tests must be conducted by suitably qualified individuals, not gullible members of the press and public ....

Found it, though that's not to say I haven't been watching skateboarding cats too!

It's a cunning scam. The box doesn't do anything - it's just plugged into the mains. It'll all come out when the leccy bill is higher than it should be though.0

Yes Eric, the inventor, or should I say one of the many, is already having the e-Cat tested at CERN.
My system is a little way off yet......;)
Do you have a reference to this testing at Cern Al? Unless the philiosophy of CERN research has changed drastically since I was there, I would doubt Cern would get involved with low energy experimentation (and even less so, testing), although I can understand if someone from e-cat would like to give that impression.
I know cern had a colloquium on low energy nuclear reactions, but that of course had nothing to do with any e-cat tests.
The idea of the CERN particle accelerators you and I pay for is to do fundamental research into high energy physics (i.e. colliding various particles at almost the speed of light), more or less the opposite requirements for testing any (low energy) 'cold fusion' devices (which almost all cern scientists will almost certainly be extremely sceptical of given the nature of their vocation).0 -

Cold fusion is certainly high on the list of discussion subjects at CERN. It is the worlds leading research facility in 'fundamental physics' after all.0
