Why, when a 13amp socket is designed for appliances up to 3kw?

I took it as 'owen moneysaver' suggested there would be 'live' pins on the plugtop, that's why I changed to directly hard wiring into a fused spur.

UK Government getting interested, sign the petition

    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/21590

I think it's more a case of the UK Government not getting interested and indeed there are but a handful of people asking them to do so.

Surely the logical way forward would be for the inventor of the machine to make one available to a Government laboratory free of charge in the confident belief that independent tests would support his claims and lead to millons of orders.

Is there a petition urging the patent owner to do this that I might sign ?

Yes Eric, the inventor, or should I say one of the many, is already having the e-Cat tested at CERN.
My system is a little way off yet......;)

    Hi

If there's already a test being conducted at CERN, which we participate in the funding of, then why should we waste even more taxpayers' money in running another test in the UK? .... surely the referenced e-petition is just a waste of time and money, possibly being promoted by the project insiders themselves gain more coverage for this likely scam ....

Suffice to say, I'll not be putting my name to the e-petition and would hope that other taxpayers would take the same view too ...

No, anyone can create a e-petition.

    Hi

I understand that, but if the result of signing the e-petition was duplication of a tax-funded trial in the UK & CERN then why ask for the taxpayer to fund both trials ? ..... surely the CERN trial should be enough to be getting on with, if there's disagreement from anyone then surely they would have no issue with having a charge levied for signing this particular e-petition, with the proceeds ring-fenced to conduct the trial ... a form of voluntary tax for the 'believers' .... :)

Sorry I misquoted, I completely agree with your previous post.

The epetition contains the words :-
To date, however, no definitive test has been carried out. I ask, therefore, that a device be purchased and properly tested

So, if CERN (or anyone else) are already testing it then there would seem no point to the epetition.

Incidentally, as of a few minutes ago, just 123 people had signed the thing. I believe there are around 30 million UK electors (but certainly a lot more than 246 !) so would suggest that we have an overwhelming majority of people who don't want our government to spend anything on this project - although I'm sure many of them await the CERN report with interest.

I don't really see any benefit in the UK Gov testing this device. It will be plenty tested just bringing it to market and if it works it will be well publicised.

Surely this duplication goes on all the time all over the world ?
Sometimes a national standard becomes a de facto international standard - as in the initials DIN.
Sometimes we get a near global co-operation, such as CERN, a co-operation with Uncle Sam and "inventors" of the world wide web.
....and sometimes, very occasionally, there is a difference
    "Thalidomide" being a notorious example.
