Came from a very reputable source, that one. :D

Yes. If I see a photo of you standing in the aforementioned snow, holding the aforementioned fruit. :p

Is that a ploy to see what I look like?!

How about a picture of the plant, with snow outside, and something to confirm the date?

oh - and also I keep it inside on the kitchen windowsill. There has been no heating in the kitchen in recent years, but we're fitting a plinth heater this weekend. Knowing my luck this'll mean the pepper dies.

Ok, a photo of the plant, the snow, and you holding a newspaper with the date on.

I've had the first ladybird of the year come in to hibernate in the kitchen window frame. 1 day later than last year, but this time last year I had several. They normally come in after the final warm spell so I'm guessing a few warmer 18c days due yet (hopefully:)) then they'll all come in.

My last 3 BNS are changing colour daily, almost there.

Managed to get the lawn cut on Sunday, which was a bonus. It was still quite wet but I doubt I'll get another chance this year. Looks reasonably tidy out there now. :)

Think i will bring a couple of my peppers in for overwintering. I was just going to warp em in fleece in the plackytunnel, but will bring two in at the weekend.

Annie, ladybird? How wonderful :) may i ask what your window frames are made of? We have pvc with sealent around them so apart from spiders i have never seen anything else around the frames....oh, apart from ants trying to get in.

I've brought in my "Big Jim" pepper. Mostly because it's been "Fiddling & Small Jim", so I wanted to give it another shot. :p

I know just what you mean, my peppers have given a poor show too. As you say though, worth giving them another shot.

The kitchen is the only room in the place that is DG, white PVC type and that's where they go. I have one window faces south and one that faces brick the wall next door or west, and they ignore that one.
The south one they sit huddled in 2 groups in the top corners where it meets the wall. Done it since I moved here in '93
I have noticed more harlequin ones rather than our native ones over recent years but not a lot I can do about that.

Once they've settled, they're very well behaved, may have a little wander up and down the frames during winter but that's it.
The jostling for best position takes a week or so and during that time I find ladybirds everywhere including suicidal ones in the cooking pots. Winter starts for me when they come in as I know I won't have any more warm days till they leave again.
