This year I hope to avoid buying any potting compost. Or at least, as little as possible.
The contents of my first compost bin look like this:
I plan on sieving it, and seeing what results I get.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
MBE - I'm planning on spending some time in the garden this weekend. What jobs do you recommend I do, other than cutting away lots of dead stuff and avoiding creepy crawlies and slugs?0

If it's anything like my garden it just needs tidying. Prepare the areas you wish to plant - pull up anything that's finished, weeds etc, & give it a quick dig over if you fancy it.
How about a couple of photos so we know what we've got, eh?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
It's so mild that I think I'll sow a few tomato seeds too. Just half a dozen or so - if the mild weather continues I might get some early toms, and if it goes cold and I lose them it won't really matter. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Come on, you can do photos's, I remember seeing at least one last year, practice makes perfect:D
And whilst MrBE may well sow some tom seeds this weekend, he does have a green house to put them when they get too tall for indoors, so unless you have one too LV, dont follow him or you'll have lanky triffids indoors come May;)0 -

Yes, but as annie123 says, you did manage to post at least one photo last year. We have long memories, and you are out of excuses. :rotfl:
I seem to remember that despite your best efforts, you had a few plants you didn't manage to kill too.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
