Oh that looks really good. I'm not really a chutney sort of person, generally, or pickled sort either... but the combo of fruits and sweetness against the toms and onions sounds rather tempting indeed
Let us know how you get on!0 -
Hi guys, nice to meet you. i love to GMO I have discovered a great seed company and because they don't supply hybrid seed or Gm seed you can collect you seed and use it for next year thus saving loads of money. They are called the Real Seed Company. Btw the hairy bikers do a great recipe for chutney. If you don't ask, you don't get!0

There are threads on here with info on horsetail and of course google. Until thats sorted I'd grow in pots only or another area of the garden if it's horsetail free.
.
Thanks Annie...the horsetail was everywhere! I've been following the advice of chopping it down as soon as it rears it's head and it does seem to be having an effect as there's not quite as much this year. Bit of an ongoing battle. I'm trying the turnips technique next to see if that will eradicate it!
I've bought some growing bags so will try these in the interim...better to have some veg than none at all LOLStopped smoking 20th October 2012
This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!0 -
Ooooo I may grow my little lettuces in this next year:

See if it gives the slugs a bit more of a "challenge"0 -

I have these, they're not particularly sturdy and they blow over at the slightest wind, even when pegged down with tent pegs.
You'd be best making sure they are in a very sheltered spot.
The soil also dries out very quickly, especially in the smaller tiers.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Ah ok, thanks for the tip on those!
I don't mind the watering so much because I've been out watering all of the pots most evenings this summer anyway (although some nights that really did feel like a chore) - it would just be another to add to the list I guess. But if they're going to be throwing themselves over at every opportunity I may have to give some thought to the best spot.
It surprises me how much the wind whips round my garden some days. It's as though it comes in towards the house and almost bounces off the wall.0 -
Remember how bad your body felt after the stag do
, so do try and control yourself for the wedding please.
Err...good advice. Entirely too late of course! Top weekend but the journey home was not fun on account of me feeling inexplicably delicate.
One of the things I particularly like about Amsterdam is the bikes. They're a bit lethal for the unwary pedestrian as they silently approach, laden with shopping and children. I wonder if it's a coincidence that I didn't see any fat people?
I see you've rustled up some new recruits, so greetings Tinks32 & Archiebear.
I'll pop back in later when I've recovered properly. What day is it anyway? :rotfl:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

good news! I made chutney. I'll let you know in a few months what it tastes like.
Bad news! We set fire to our chimney last night. Firemen and everything. Spent today cleaning soot of everything. Gah.0 -

Give some notice next time and I can [STRIKE]nag[/STRIKE] gentle remind you before you go
My BNS has almost lost all it's green now, just need another couple of weeks, hope it stays frost free at night, although the low night time temps of 8c for here are a little worrying.
Gardens starting to look a little tatty now things are coming to an end, must have a clear out of some plants this weekend.0
