Mine's just the opposite. Hundreds of fruit but no sign of any colour except green.I think I got too greedy by getting them to climb up the roof to the apex. Keeping too much light out methinks. Could I blame my wife as quite a few of you seem to think she's mostly responsible this year.

Err, as we understand it John, your wife is directly responsible for all the good stuff.
The tomatoes will ripen, I'm sure. You just need one to turn and they'll all follow. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I saw a shooting star this evening, which reminded me I'd forgot about the [STRIKE]Pleiades[/STRIKE] Perseids at the weekend.
Pleasant evening though. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Can you get any better photos please Fay?
I will try and get some at the weekend-I am keeping the GH closed up as I don't have time to strip it during the week, so don't want to go in. I'm wondering now if I was a little over enthusiastic with the soap spray for the spider mite and if this could have caused the damage as looking in from the outside it doesn't appear to have gotten worse (not sure it could get much worse though!)On the plus side my bush tom's out the front are fruiting excellently and had a nice little crop from them last night0 -

No, it's a meteor shower. Quite a bit of cloud cover here which disappointed my son as he was out with the telescope, assorted bits of filters etc It's not as good as one (who's name escapes me) in a few months, that's a much better display.
Well done on the squash MBE, hope it grows to a big heavy one and the pond is looking great too. The ferns probably needed lots more water too, but the ivy will provide good hiding places.
I've not had any blackfly this year which is very odd, I'd happily swap blight to have them back.
The powdery mildew is very early this year on the courgettes, so I'm going to try milk on the leaves to see if that will stop it spreading to the others.0 -
I doubt it was a shooting star you saw MBE, unless you live in the heart of the country with no street lights around you so most likely it was a space station that you saw.
During the war years when we had no street lighting I used to see hundreds of shooting stars and really enjoyed watching them night after night when there were no bombing raids going on.0 -
Like Annie says - could have been a meteor shower perhaps0
