Nothing good to say. Just wanted to be first on the new page.:rotfl:

    Men! it's a little world sometimes :p

Mowed the lawn this morning, which felt strange as by now it's always been brown and dead looking.

picked more beans, another courgettes :( and 2 blushing toms. Looks like I've got 2 more q's that will need picking in a day or so to go with the 2 I have in my fridge already.

Might dig up a courgette and sow some oriental salad for autumn, would be more useful as even I'm fed up with courgettes by now

OK then, I now have a fully orange tom and a fully yellow one too. :p
Runner beans for dinner for about the 20th consecutive day but still loving them. Carrots today too.
  • Had some runner beans with my tea last night and very nice they were too.
Been out getting the caterpillars of the broccolli.

What is the best way to get rid of black flie is it dilute washing up liquid or is there something I can us without using chemicals. Many thanks in advance;)

I have about 4 redish toms whoop whoop:rotfl:

Well I don't have blight-I took some more pics but haven't had a chance to get them onto the computer yet. I think I poisoned my plants by spraying with soap solution :( But I managed to rescue 5 chilli plants and all but one tomoato plant, but only one pepper plant...oops.On the plus side my bush tomatos are doing brilliantly and I harvested 30 nice fruits on saturday and there are still lots more red and loads of green fruits too. I also harvested my first cucumber ever-marketmore, very tasty but the skin was quite tough-is this typical? Also the last of my potatoes have come out and I've put sweet williams in that space as a nursery bed. I also now have carrots ready, french bean plants are coming along and I also have some very small runner beans-so not quite the disaster I was suspecting. The new mange tout and peas are also growing well.
  • Been a while from I posted and was looking at seeds to start sewing to have a pretty flower garden out the front next spring so thought I would swing by.

I managed to get a lot to grow this year, my chilli plants are looking amazing if I say so myself! About 50 - 60 chillis currently growing with more to come by the looks of the number of flowers on it.

Only got about a punnet of strawberries from my 6 plants :( they were lovely but Id have liked more! Got 11 runners on the go from those 6 plants at the moment so that will be helpful for next year at least.

Had to throw my pea plants out as they got attacked by some kind of bug and they werent really worth trying to save :(

Beans did ok, still lots on the grow at the moment.

Tomato plants havent done much? I mean they are growing and have some small tomatoes growing but not any we could eat as yet :/

Corgettes seem to start growing fantastically but then the end of them starts to go soft and rot :( Why is this happening? I have NO idea whats causing it and its driving me nuts as had to bin 4 or 5 of them so far and i think one of the 6 corgettes growing at the moment is going to need chopping and binning soon too! gutted.

Making our own pesto tomorrow from our basil which is exciting :) and looking fwd to buying some garlic, onions and broccoli to grow over the winter. Still need to sort the back garden out to grow things in the ground rather than in out 6 million pots lol

oh and Mr MBE, I thought of you today when OH discovered a family of frogs living in a corner of our garden! I remembered how badly you wanted to get the frogs into your garden :D we took some photos of one of them, he was super cute.

I've had the same. You have to remove the flower otherwise it rots the fruit.

  • Thanks Leif, we have taken the flowers off as soon as the cuc's have started to grow but its still happening. Will just pray for a good one soon lol

btw silly question - my strawberry plants... to keep them for next year do I need to keep them in the greenhouse? Or will they take the cold ok?

I haven't got any, but my mate's go through the winter without any problems.

I'm afraid we don't believe how good your chillies are. You have to post a photo. :p;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

My mate's stag do was at the weekend, so in case anyone missed me I've spent three days getting drunk in a field.

    I hurt all over. :o
