Huge harvest tonight...........2 strawberries and a few salad leaves. Really was quite excited:rotfl::rotfl:
I have quite a few small green toms and tiny cucumbers and checked one of the courgette plants as it started to flower over the weekend (all male) BUT spotted a very small female flower. Fingers crossed for them, better late than never I suppose.
Looks like my runner beans are about to flower. I have White Lady, grown these for the last 3 years and are a nice variety. Got my FIL into this variety as he always used to grow a red flower variety, (think it was Red Emperor).
We actually had some sun too this afternoon in Cheshire.:T:T:T[SIZE=2]SPC4 #1395 Aug 11 £135.75/£150

Pouring down again... will it ever end? Lost a couple more plants to slugs, bought better pellets but nothing is working
On the plus side, I have a strawberry going redJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
It's like a November day at 4 o'clock in the afternoon here. Dark, dreich and very, very wet.
Drea have you tried the Eraza stuff I mentioned earlier? It's very effective.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Weather back to normal today, grey skies, breezyand showers due later

Hubby will not be happy but I don't careeven if it's above 23c I'll be happy.
Having done some planning for autumn/winter sowing/growing its made me realise that now DD has left home I'm not growing the right amounts of some things.
Garlic for example she had with almost everthing, whereas hubby and I get through 1 bulb every few months so I won't bother with that any more, and swiss chard, something DD loved whereas we don't use much so only need a couple of them rather than the 12 or so I have dotted around and like wise spring onions.
I have found a Turkish shop near me that sells 4kg of onions for 75p-99p and I don't notice any difference in taste so won't bother with them again.
This has given me a bit more space for things I do like, spinach for example and I want to increase the space for red currents up away from the woodmice that live in the stumpery  as cute as they are the redcurrants are for me.0 -

I'll get some now, the OH bought me this other stuff that isn't working. I have so many of the things and they are all huge!
Noticed 4 or 5 tiny little frogs hopping around the garden, not sure why they've taken up home there, there's no pond or anything of interest for them! If only they'd be bigger and eat the slugs for meJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Speaking of which, MBE, I expect you on here in February complaining about the noise of frogs in your pond next year.0 -

Not the same one I'm afraid, unless he was swimming the breast stroke with no legs. I had them for my tea on Monday. Waiting for the next one to fatten up a bit now. :cool:0 -

 no eating the wildlife please
Although I've still had rain every day, no where near as much as usual so soil in the ground and pots is starting to dry out.
3 of 4 courgettes are now producing flowers that aren't rotting before they open and I'm cautiously optimistic that I may actually harvest one in August, only 2 months later than normal.
Lots of green toms that desperately need sun, although it's not rained as much I still have a lot of cloud cover.
Runner beans have flowers, chard seems happy, so do several herbs.
Potato harvest has improved, 750g from 2 seed spuds :T
Yet to have a rummage around the ones in flower buckets, they are all types I've not grown before so will leave them for a few more weeks. They could have rotted I guess but I hope not.
Looks odd out there I have a green thick lush lawn in July, its usually died off by now, nice to look at but needs more mowing.
Looking forward to Sunday, it would appear to be dry and I'm free to garden :j0
