!!!!ing weather blew the greenhouse over & I've lost everything!
My evenings this week will consist of firstly picking up the greenhouse, Throwing the contents into the garden composter, and then re planting absolutely everything...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I hav just been and cleaned up the garden from my greenhouse blowing over. Have discarded the cover and all the bits of tube not needed but the shelves are in perfect working order so everything I have saved has gone back on them safely propped against the wall. Lets see what survives.Donna

oh no to the people who's greenhouses blew over. I had that problem last year losing everything, it put me off growing again for a while.
It's gorgeous out here today, but the ground is far to wet to do anything about it. Everything is ready to plant out but will just have to wait until it's drier. I have two greenhouses full at the moment (not full sized ones though).Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -

Aww mate! Was that a proper greenhouse or a blowaway? I keep checking out of the window to make sure mine's still there. I'm not entirely sure how secure it is since I raised it, but so far so good.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I was looking at some in a garden centre on Saturday. The label said that although some people eat the young leaves, it has not been established that it is safe to do so. :rotfl:
It's also known as knitbone, and is more of a herbal remedy than anything else I think. However, we gardeners (!) grow it because it is very good at extracting nutrients from the ground. Chuck some leaves in a bucket of water until it stinks to high heaven, and you have free tomato feed. Also good for feeding other fruit and veg. The leaves make great compost, and can be placed directly around tomato plants, or chopped up in the pot when you plant them. Some people put a layer in when they plant spuds.
The wild sort seeds everywhere, so is quite invasive. The big root system means it's hard to get rid of once you've got it. However, there is a variety known as Bocking 14, which is sterile and spreads by way of roots or root cuttings. If you have a spot that's no good for anything else (like I have behind my greenhouse there) then I think it's worth growing. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
