Today I have walking onion seedlings, anybody know if they could be walking this year? :o

Grown from seed? Probably not. These are mine:

Which were grown from little bulbs last year, in pots. They haven't moved yet, but I fully expect to come home one day soon to find them larking about behind the greenhouse or something. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

It was dry today, at least until about half an hour ago, so I had a look at the pond to try and find out where the water's disappearing. I lifted the liner and felt all round between it and the underlay. It all seems completely dry.

That only leaves the shelf. Picked all the pebbles off it, but then the heavens opened so I can't get underneath it yet.

I'm starting to think it might not actually be leaking, but if it's not, it's losing a hell of a lot through evaporation. :undecided

I kinda thought to lose inches like that it'd need to be hot and dry to evaporate so much. Don't wish a leak on you though, I hope you find nothing wrong!

My pond which is a touch smaller than yours and dropped 1cm in the 2 nice weeks we had in March. In the summer (25-30c) it drops by up to an inch in a week, but mine does get shade in the morning and late afternoon so if yours is in full sun maybe that could be something to do with it, but you'd have to have had a lot of sun over the last week.

Not evaporation then. Unless it's because it's been windy, the pond is exposed because it has no plants in and around it, and all the recent rain has missed it.

I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to have to empty it again so I can take the liner out for inspection. :(

You could just let it drop to see how low it goes, then if it stays stable at a certain level, you've got a leak at that level, rather than evaporation which would continue..........or ask MBE senior, he may have some good ideas as he has a very healthy looking pond.

That's what I did. It stabilises after losing about 3", which is why I went round at the water level today looking for a wet bit behind the liner. Nothing yet but I've still got the shelf to check.

We ended up with quite a nice day here yesterday so I was busy in the garden moving rubble from the side garden & digging weeds out of the back garden (helped by my lovely little robin friend :)).

I've dragged the strawberry planter to the front of the house to get the sun (South facing) as I realised yesterday that it was 1pm & it still wasn't in the sun where it was :(

I also drilled holes in 16 flower buckets ~ a 5mm bit was the biggest I could find so hopefully that will be ok now.

    My bones ache today :o

'Helped' my @ss....he was using you for slave labour.

Why dig for worms yourself when you can have a minion do it. ;):p:rotfl:

Not been weather to do anything here. Bit depressing and dull. The rain only stops for half an hour if we're lucky then it's on again. Apparently we're having another 5 days of this.

:rotfl::rotfl: I know, I know, but he's so damned cute!! And he did 'help' because I wanted to find him his worms so I kept on digging for longer that I would have done otherwise!! I know, I'm a sap :o

It's dry here at the moment, but heavy rain is forecast for later & for the next few days ~ pita isn't it :(

I've decided to put my raspberry cane in the back garden so I've got to go out & do some more digging, just waiting for the [STRIKE]dead stick[/STRIKE] cane to soak for an hour. Unwrapping the thing was like unwrapping an Egyptian Mummy!! Got a little black fly flitting about the kitchen now as well, must have been wrapped up inside it _pale_
