SO. MANY. WEEDS. ARGGGGG, i'm guessing getting rid of a crazy weed problem can take a while? Pulled up hundreds of tiny baby ones yesterday, still it's progress as the other side of the garden that I've never weeded looks like a jungle.
I topped up some gaps in the carrots I'd sown (don't know how but they're growing in clumps) and put some pak choi and chard under a polytunnel. I know it's not necessary but wanted some protection while they're young.

Is it still too early to plant out courgettes in midlands? They're getting big and are doing okay in one of those flimsy zip up green houses outside.

I've also found some old seeds (leeks) that I'll have a go with. I found some peas that "expired" in 2010 and planted a couple but they haven't come up :(

I can't do too much with the pond today:

The grass has already had a bit of a pasting. I think the work's been worthwhile though:

And I have another gardener, planting peanuts, probably:

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Erm, no :o I'm glad you know what's what lisakay, I would have dug it all up as everything looks like weeds to me on that plot ~ I have a lot to learn :o

errrrm, almost everything else is weeds:eek::rotfl:!!!
I have an awful lot to do, but I love this time of year, so full of promise:D

well it's raining, the kids are complaining and it looks like i wont be getting much digging done today:(. I'm happy to dig in the rain, but the kids get fed up after 10 minutes.

Is it still really too early to put my tomatoes out in one of these......

And also cover with fleece if need be?

I'm fed up waiting for weeks to pass. :(

Depends on your local climate. It was -6 in my greenhouse a few nights ago, I'm waiting for a while :D

Daleks have a door in the bottom. If you build one yourself, you get whatever you remembered to incorporate into the design. The front of mine come off with just a couple of screws.
Yeah but they don't work. Brilliant idea, fails in use.
The ideal solution, is to have two, fill one, leave to rest till it's finished, then just pull up the entire bin. As it's a cone shape, it just pulls straight off.
Alternatively, if you are stuck with one, you can remove the bin and separate the compost you want, then put the rest back in.

What a heap really needs is insulation, create a cheap bin shaped object from chicken wire, line with cardboard and I promise you, it will do a much better job than the dalek ones.

Thanks for asking, I was helping put up a fence there the other day and I'm still aching all over :o. I'm still waiting to get the actual plot. It's frustrating, as the plots need alot of digging over and sorting.

My tomatoes don't go into my greenhouse until early May.

I've never had one, but my uncle Bob reckon's they're useless too. He's got two daleks and throws his waste directly onto the vegetable plot. :rotfl:

They do work, I have 2 I use, they are just very convenient and keep out rodents very well.. But they do take a long time to break down material, because it's cool and because they don't have air holes.
I think it was at the CAT centre where I read, that they found for them to work well, they need air holes drilled in them. I've never bothered with the holes, as they do work for me, just take time.
Now I've got chickens again, it will take less time of course ;)
