a factory restore is as it suggests, it will be the same as when it left the factory
system restore will just undo recent changes, ie a recent program installation or windows update
instructions on how to run hijackthis are in the speedup sticky!!

System restore problem is what cause the original posting so am going to do Factory restore to sort it out all out as per info from TakeThis earlier in topic. (just need the time to do it as have been doing typing for daughter and needed to get this completed first, incase anything goes wrong).
Thank you all for trying to help its much appreciated...but as you have all gathered I am rubbish at all of this technical stuff, half the time I don`t know what I`m doing...sorry bet that sounds awful but you experts always come to the rescue and I am very grateful. (I`m really good at building flat packs though! really I am!)0
