    It is STILL raining :(

Got back from work at about 6.30, which is reasonable.

Made pasta with tomato, bacon and cheese, with lots of fresh parsley from the garden, and using up some rather smelly brie that has been lurking in the fridge  It was nice though, and made loads :D

I made potato, cabbage and chorizo soup yesterday, which I hadn't made before, and is a lot nicer than it sounds - so all things considered I am a bit spoiled for choice re leftovers for lunch at work tomorrow :D

STILL haven't planted out the poor French beans, but all the cabbages have been cut now. I still have some of the outside leaves to feed to the chickens, but really must get them cleared and the beans in at the weekend, whatever the weather

The mangetout peas and new potatoes are coming in to flower, and the broad bean pods growing, so we are looking forward to those :)

Some more cabbage to use up tomorrow, so I must look for something in the freezer that goes with cabbage - hmmm. We are determined to base our meals around what is growing in the garden though, for moneysaving and healthy eating reasons :A

The chickens are still laying well, and although we only have 3, we have had enough eggs to give a couple of half dozens to our immediate neighbours. On one side, he is a bit OCD about the front hedges - he likes ours to be the same as his, which suits us fine, as he cuts the darn thing and we don't have to :D:D It wouldn't suit everyone I know, but in a life where there are too many jobs, it is nice not to have to do one :) So we have bribed him with eggs to encourage with his slightly odd preoccupation with our front hedge :rotfl:The neighbours the other side have a small catering business and sometimes give us old lettuces for the chickens, which they love (or sometimes tomatoes, which I check over first to be honest, to see if I can make them into pasta sauce :o some of them are often still fine for that), so only fair to give them a few eggs as well :)

Holding off OPs this month (apart from £20 earlier) as we are in the process of changing banks, and I don't want to end up overdrawn anywhere * if anything goes a bit wrong. However, when it is all sorted, I will see what can be done :)

Well, I had better clean up after supper, as the kitchen looks like a bomb site

Brrr it is freezing here
There was me thinking it was supposed to be June :(

Managed to leave work early :)

Went with OH to an auction viewing, and stopped off at the big Mr M's store on the way back. I haven't been there for over a year, and I must say I was impressed. It is much nicer than the local Mr S stores (it always used to be the other way round). So, we did the shopping there. Now won't have it to do over the weekend.

Just as well, as there is loads to do, friend from France is over and is popping in in the morning, and DS has invited us to lunch on Sunday.

Hopefully the weather will be a bit better in the morning - there is gardening to get done. The poor French beans are still languishing in their seed tray.

Bank account transfer seems to be going ok, and I opened a FD regular saver account this morning.

Time for a bath to warm up I think. At this rate I will need to light the woodburner again

Shocking isn't it . My heating switched itself on this morning .

I almost put the heating on last night but got in a sleeping bag and put a blanket round me whilst on the couch. The gas bill is always shocking in the winter so really need to try not to put it on in the summer. Was ruddy freezing though!

I couldn't get off to sleep at all last night, until I put on woolly socks and a fleece
Cold and wet again today :( I wanted to get some gardening done, but no chance of that. The plants are desperate for some sun as well.

Had lunch with DS and his family :) lovely to see them, and no cooking today :D

We've had the heating on this week - the house was cold when we came home from our weekend away and I needed it on to get the washing (mountains of it) dry - I've finally caught up (one wet load in the machine) - just the ironing mountains to conquer now

Can't believe how cold I've been for a Summer month! :(

Still pretty cold and wet :(

Accountant has done OH's books and tax return :T

He will get nearly £700 tax rebate :T:T We have agreed that half will go towards his fishing holiday in August, and the other half - you guessed it, comes off the mortgage :j

Not much news apart from that. Just realised that I have somehow forgotten to update the spreadsheets this month, (where has the time gone ) so will need to do that. Not tonight though - late back from work as I have been on my travels again.

Other bit of news - OH picked 3 strawberries from the garden and left them out on the worktop for me :) First ones this year.

    No rain yet :)

Working in the office today, so I will try to leave early :D

Doesn't mean I will succeed of course!

Breakfast eaten, salmon out of freezer, and OH has cleaned out the chickens :)

Must do spreadsheets tonight, feed strawberry plants if not pouring with rain, and ring FD about a direct debit that doesn't seem to have appeared in new account. Also print out bank statements from account as I intend to close it once all is moved over ok.
