OH has finished the trellis on the low wall between us and the neighbour's. It looks great, and the neighbours like it too :D

He is now thinking about making a coffee table from some yew wood that he bought from one of his wood merchant friends recently :D

Not sure how much more room we have left for furniture given his auction habit and newly acquired urge to make it as well  The things he makes are lovely, and could go to one of the shops that take his products (they aren't selling many atm though :(). We will see!

Good (though slightly amusing) news today - I booked my car in to have its cam belt changed as it had reached the mileage at which such a boring thing apparently had to happen. An embarrassed person rang from the dealership today to say that they should not have booked it in, as my car doesn't have a cam belt, it has a something else instead which does not need to be replaced :T I thought this fantastic news, but the person who booked it in probably got a bit of flak from their colleagues :rotfl:I have the excuse (apart from the one of being female - apologies, I am a feminist, but also unprincipled enough to ignore all that in the face of excessively tedious mechanical thingies :o) that the bills and receipts from the dealership always seem to mention that this is a terribly important thing to get done.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Right, better go and cook some trout.

Thats the kind of silly thing I would do. I went the to Sorting Office to collect a parcel yesterday just to find that the postman had written 'over back gate' on the back of the 'you were out' card.

The worst thing was though that i'd already seen the message and picked the parcel up. I'd just put the card down in the kitchen, then thought 'oh a parcel to collect' and went to get it.

Just as well I didn't decde to send the OH he would not have been amused!!!

Yes, a good story, if a bit embarrassing :o More so for the staff member who booked the car in to have this non-existent part replaced though :rotfl:At least they have been honest about it - some might have had it in, done nothing and charged me anyway  Or done *something* and messed it up :eek: I do hate cars - I wish I didn't need one!

Bleurrgh day at work again. Lots of uncertainty due to impending reorganisation AGAIN. Several people have been made redundant (voluntarily) several more have just had enough and found something else, so are leaving. However, the work doesn't decrease. I think my best bet is to stick around to see what happens. Once it all settles down again I am seriously looking at leaving and doing something (anything!) else or going part time though. I am sceptical here, as I can imagine 'going part time', but still ending up with my daft workload, but for part time wages.

Once it all settles down will be towards the end of the year when the mortgage will hopefully be on its last legs.......

Right, off to investigate a bank account or 3, to see if I can scrape up another OP :D

Managed to find an extra £50 to overpay :D

    Every little helps :)

All sorted (I think) with new FD regular saver. I don't find their internet banking service very easy to use though.

I will get used to it!

I get paid next week, and hopefully it will go into the new account, and the STOs and DDs will come out. I only know of one (more) that I need to deal with manually, and will look at that tomorrow. It will be a relief to see it all working properly though

And say goodbye to S*tander :D
  • Hi Dawn, that's exactly how I felt about the Spanish bank - drove me mad. I agree that the FD online banking is not marvellous, but the advantages outlay the disadvantages in my opinion.

The car situation made me laugh when I read about it :).

I have thought of working part time, but I have the same opinion as you. I think the expectation would be that I would do the same amount, in less time, for less money - no thanks :rotfl:

Have a good day tomorrow, Tilly

Agree with you about the part time, i work 25 hours in a role in which my equivalants do 37hrs!!!

Had a laugh about the cam belt, in their defence i worked in a garage and knew nothing about cars, if you rung and said it needed doing i'd book it in!! Mechanics used to have a laugh asking me to ring up parts dept and ask for crank goggings, flat tyres and other amusing parts!!

    Friday :j:j:j:j:j

Managed to bunk off work early :j:j:j:j:j:j

Felt a bit guilty even though I am way over hours, as usual :o

Housework this weekend by the looks of things round here

I must try to avoid mindlessly food shopping and meal plan properly, as I have loads in the fridge, larder and garden. Making it all go together is challenging though :rotfl:

I will do frittata to use up vast quantities of eggs (the chickens are laying like mad, and OH has given quite a few to the neighbours this week) and some fridge-bottom veg. I must pick the mangetout and we can have those with them :)

Payday next week, so long as my workplace is not caught up in the NatWest debacle  Some real horror stories about the situations some people have found themselves in due to this  One couple apparently unable to complete on their mortgage because their deposit is stuck somewhere in the solicitor's NatWest account

Been up for ages - couldn't sleep due to stressing over work staffing issues :(

Logically it won't be helped by me not sleeping but sleeplessness is rarely logical :o

Anyway, as it is Saturday, at least I can take a nap later on if I feel shattered!

    Anyway, plans for today:

Wash hair (boring) in a minute

Lots more cups of coffee :)

Go along to post office to see if I can track down 2 ebay parcels that mysteriously haven't appeared. From 2 different vendors who swear they have sent the items (and I believe them - they have good feedback and these are low value items - why would they bother?)

    Shopping later

Housework - OH can help with this, as he has been at home all week and hasn't done any  OK, I know he has been doing his woodwork, but it is more a hobby that he loves than work tbh.

Try to find out whether OH's nephew and family are coming for Sunday afternoon tea so that I know what to buy / make. I am hoping not - it would be lovely to see them, but we are also invited out for lunch tomorrow, and I am not sure how all this will fit together :o

Right, more coffee and have a first go at the shopping list!
