Didn't spot you are close to becoming a teenager again (mortgage in the 19's)

I always cancel tele-conference that are late on a Friday :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Believe me, I was VERY tempted :o - but didn't quite dare as it was someone MUCH more important than me :rotfl::rotfl:

Looking forward to being a teenager again, hopefully this month - gosh, that was a few years ago  I think I would enjoy it far more now though; my teenage years were totally wasted on my rather po-faced, shy, serious self back then :rotfl:

Had a scrambled goose egg on toast for breakfast (OH was given 2 yesterday) and I am REALLY full up now :o Shan't want any lunch.

Getting ready to go to DD's summer party. I got up early and coloured my hair, then cut a load of spinach from the garden and made a spanakopitta (sp? greek spinach and feta pie with filo pastry). I will take this, plus a load of bbq stuff that OH has just been and bought from Ald!, with us as everyone tends to contribute to communal food.

There will be loads of people camping, so I hope the weather won't be too bad :( It doesn't look great at the moment, but at least it isn't raining. What a shame though, after all the lovely weather we have had.

Needless to say I will NOT be camping, but am going to install myself firmly in DD's flat (part of a big house, in its own grounds, hence camping etc - sounded odd otherwise) and just go outside to do nice social things but definitely not sleep  My camping days are now officially over. I used to take the kids loads when they were young :D but not now :)

We will stay overnight, maybe even 2 nights, and take the dog with us. The chickens will be provided with loads of food, and they are foxproof where they are, so no problem there. I have thoroughly watered the garden pots so that nothing will dry out (on the offchance it warms up and doesn't rain that is).

Just moved some money about. I am in the middle of changing bank accounts, so have 3 current accounts at the moment to keep an eye on  So probably won't do much of an OP until later in the month. Having said that, I have £6 from an Amazon sale, and £5 Halifax reward, and could round that up to £20....

Every little helps, as the saying goes :)

I love greek spinach and feta pie (not even attempting to spell it), it's all we ate for lunch when in Greece.

Never attempting to bake it though - perhaps I ought to try it doesn't look too difficult!!

Thought I would pop back to say thanks you for the lentil and sausage casserole recipe, it went down a storm with my OH which is a miracle as he is a meat and 2 veg type :rotfl:

I added in finely chopped carrots and peppers as they were about to get beyond their best and used a spicy italian sausage I got as part of a hamper and it was very yummy. We will be trying it again with some spicy sausages I have in the freezer.

Lol... I'm one of those people who schedule con calls for Friday afternoons.... It's often the only time everyone is available!!

I do a lot of work with the US, so Friday afternoon is actually Friday morning for them. If I worked with Asia it would be the other way round!

    Hello :j
Back again from a very wet 'summer' party weekend :)

Good fun, but a bit rotten for those camping with kids :(

Greek spinach and feta pie - you use bought filo pastry, dead easy, looks like something posh from the deli :D Brush each filo sheet with olive oil, messy job, half a dozen sheets to line a baking dish, letting it hang over the sides, layer of barely cooked spinach, crumbled feta seasoned with s&p, more sheets of filo brushed with olive oil, another layer of spinach and cheese, use up rest of pastry, fold overhanging bits over the top, more olive oil brushed on, into the oven with it, gas 4 for about half an hour or so till nice and brown, then invert onto a plate (carefully!) and put back in dish upside down to brown the underneath for another 10 or 15 minutes. The main thing is to brush the sheets of filo with olive oil. All ingredients from A!di's except the spinach, which came from the veg patch, so dead cheap. It doesn't look it :)
Don't buy expensive feta cubes in olive oil, just a block of it. Doesn't even have to be 'proper' feta. One of the supermarkets does their own value 'Greek salad cheese' which does just as well :D

Goose eggs, well, they are like chicken eggs only HUGE!

Phone conferences late on Friday pm - hmm, I have overseas ones sometimes, but on this occasion it was just someone I couldn't cancel on :(

    Today:

Food shopping, Ald!s then top up in Waitrose. Keep an eye open for bakery bargains in Waitrose - out local one reduces bread products down to pennies on their sell by date, and as it is Waitrose, they are perfect! I got packs of 6 burger buns for 10p, crumpets for 15p :D

Roast chicken for supper, with herbs from the garden, roast potatoes and lovely fresh spring cabbage - I only have 2 left now, which is just as well, as the French beans are outgrowing their seed tray and desperate to take their place in our little vegetable garden!

Washing on the line to dry.

Walked in to town to change the pin numbers on mine and OH's new first direct debit cards. The switch is underway, and next month's direct debits should come out of this new account, and my salary should be paid in. We will see

When all happens as it should, I shall close the S*tander account, but keep the H*lifax one that pays me £5 per month in exchange for transferring £1k in.

Off work again tomorrow :j Perhaps we will do something - a picnic perhaps (I have cold chicken for sandwiches :)) or visit a NT property... we are members, but hardly ever use it.

Must sow more radish and spring onion seeds in a little space in the veg plot, get washing in, load dishwasher and do the bits that can't go in there by hand (vintage stuff, looks pretty, needs washing up by hand :o).

Got everything done that I intended to yesterday.

Wondering if we ought to 'do' something today - we had thought a picnic but it is starting to rain. Can I be bothered???

I really ought to think about starting the income tax self assessments

At least see what information I need to get together. I am thinking just certificates of deduction of tax from any bank accounts that have paid interest during the year. Mine will then be simple - just the details from my P60, and declare any savings interest (ie not much!). OH's more complicated due to 2 PAYE jobs and self employment  We keep copies of all invoices (not many) and expenses, so have all that to hand. I think externally, it will just be the certificates from the banks to round up.

Didn't go out yesterday - it started to rain :(

Didn't plant the French beans out either :o.

Did look at OH's self assessment though, but, although I used to do it ok for both of us when we rented out our house and were both employed, I really don't understand the self employment section of the form well enough to be confident about it. We therefore decided to get an accountant to do it. I don't need the additional stress, we know someone who will do it, and her fee will be tax deductable, so a bit of a no-brainer really. I meanwhile received notification from HMRC today that I don't need to do self assessment any more :T Though mine would actually have been very easy.

    More heavy rain today :(

Made a soup for supper, with chorizo, potatoes, onion and cabbage that was an awful lot nicer then it sounds (and there is enough for me to take to work for lunch tomorrow :)).

Off to London tomorrow again, but shouldn't be too late back.

    Isn't June going fast
