Longlife Cream no more????

I have not looked for it so I don't know if it is true but Tesco supposedly stock a Polish UHT Cream called Lowicz in a 500g carton costing £1.20.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0
-
You can still get UHT cream at Morrisons . It's in a carton shaped like a very mini carton of milk, with a screw top. I don't like it quite as much as the traditional cartons, but it's fine - though a bit tricky to extract every bit from the carton.
Uht has always been such a great standby, let's hope somebody resurrects it soon.0 -
and you can still get it at Makro in big cartons - possibly 1L - which cost £3-£4. Ideal for heavy use at Christmas though.0

I saw single & double long-life cream in Tesco the other day - I think they were 500ml cartons. They were on top of the shelves waiting to be put out. I think they were above the custard & made up pudding section0

Thanks Clowance. The makro link is useful.
I also got directed to Elmlea which was ridiculous because I'd already explained that my desire for UHT cream was so I could make genuinely creamy yoghurt when I get a yoghurt maker.
There's some awesome Polish yoghurt made with full cream called Yogobella Serek. Unfortunately it also has a lot of sugar which, as I'm a diabetic, is not a good idea.
Fat is not an issue with me as I'm not a weight controlled diabetic (and not overweight). You have to either boil milk or use UHT to make yogurt (to make sure that the yoghurt culture is the only bacteria you breed) and as someone who will generally let the milk catch when boiling I don't even want to try boiling cream.
So now that I can make my own yoghurt (as soon as I get a 2 litre yoghurt maker from Lakeland) and some of this: pomonapectin.com (not linked because of the sensible new user spam prevention thing but I'm still going to include it because it's NOT a spam link)
I shall experiment with making my own froyo.
Not sure if it will work out cheaper (if it does I'll post it here - I'm guessing that if you go the whole hog and turn it into froyo it MIGHT be cheaper but the yoghurt would be dearer but nummier)0 -
Even though it clearly states "Alternative to cream" on the pots? If people are confused it just proves that people are stupid.
Where else would you expect a cream alternative to be stocked? In a new aisle along with all those fake butter spreads (which people largely manage to not get confused about).
Yes, and that ought to be removed too! it implies its non-dairy - which it isn't!0 -
I was in Tesco today and they had Ambrosia real Devon Cream in cartons - it was UHT so not refrigerated.Jane
ENDIS. Employed, no disposable income or savings!0 -
was in tesco yesterday & they still have single & double UHT cream & an alternative - like elmlea, I suppose - in UHT cartons too.0
-
Yes the tesco long life UHt alternative in the blue carton is actually pretty good as pouring cream, not for whipping etc but for a keep in fridge option it's great.0
-
Do Tesco or Morrisons sell a long life double cream that can be whipped? I need to take some to France. It is impossible to find fresh double cream there0
