Most large Arabic and Asian shops sell various brands of tinned cream, there is one that has real honey mixed in, yum yum (its nothing like when you get greek yoghurt and it has some nasty slimy sugary substance which is meant to be honey). Puck is one brand (actually made by Arla dairies), Kiri is another xx

Morrissons supermarkets still do the little screw top tetra pak containers - 250ml. They do single, double and Whipping Probably worth me commenting that I found the Whipping cream a little insubstantial, (a little like A Badder, above), but it's not awful, just slow to stiffen. The make is Lakeland and it IS real dairy cream, not synthetic substitute. Hope this helps everyone. The shelf had been stripped of the double type when I was there so Morrissons are probably doing well out of it - and good for them! At least they are not lying to customers and telling them that no such product was ever available, you're mistaken (yes, that's YOU I mean, Asda!).

The single version was fine, and like I said I never got the chance to try double, but will when I can get it.

So you're saying it was acceptable to mislead the public until the law was changed?

That rather makes the point about these companies, doesn't it? Like dodgy car salesmen they sail as close to the wind as they can.

DEFRA told me that it's legal for supermarkets to sell animals, poultry and animal/poultry products which have been fed on GM feed without labelling them as such because of an EU regulation.

I looked at Viking Direct thinking they might do individual portions of UHT cream but nope, it's 'creamer'.

Does anyone remember the sticks of frozen cream, I used to get it in Bejams before it chaged to Iceland, they were handy to keep in the freezer and thawed really quickly.

Yes I do:) Was ready to post the same question as I read through. I used to eat them when there was no ice cream and mum wasn't looking. I asked around the supermarkets last year and no one knew what I was talking about. :(

yes, I remember it too - very useful (& we also used to get from Bejam the frozen Florida orange-juice concentrate & for a very short time, I think, lemonade concentrate that my mum used to use in baking)

I'd forgotten about the frozen orange juice. Another thing we used to get was what we called, and I hope this won't offend anyone, disabled turkeys, they were turkeys without legs, what they call turkey crowns now but these were very cheap.

OT, I admit, but Bejam is quite a loss, isn't it?
  • The one supermarket that still sells Long-life cream is Morrisons.
It's in a plastic square-shaped carton with a screw top, and it comes in single and double. It's not very convenient, as it's a bit difficult to get all the cream out of the carton, but at least it is available - for how long, who knows ? !!

Sadly it's not a lot thicker than milk.
