i saw someone i know who works high up in social services coming out of lidl yesterday ,she saw me and turned her head the other way,never replied to my greeting either,afterall,i`m only a front line support worker!!

We did Christmas dinner at our house this year and it was a total aldi/lidl meal. My brother is a snob when it comes to those shops, I told him as he was swallowing the last spoon of lidl's trifle where the food had come from - his face was a picture :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't encounter Aldi or Lidl snobbery much, probably because Asda is a five minute walk away on the edge of our housing estate and so not a lot of people consider going anywhere else anyway. Lidl is a ten or fifteen minute walk further on up the road, and I make a trip there every few weeks to bolster my stash of coffee just before I get down to the last jar (it's called 'Granoroma' or something like that, tastes even better than Nescafe but is way cheaper). I'll usually pick up a couple of other favourites too, notably their cheese coleslaw, better than Asda's and again, miles cheaper.

Last time I was in there, an old bloke was shuffling past just as I accidentally dropped one of my Asda carrier bags on the floor next to the pile of Lidl carriers under the checkout. I don't think I've even seen such a burst of speed and agility in someone half his age as the one he put on when he swooped to grab my empty carrier from the floor. I just stood there speechless while he showed it to a baffled checkout assistant and asked if there was a charge for it. I'll grudgingly admit that the beaming smile he gave her when she said 'no' was worth the effort of trying to ram everything into one less carrier bag than usual

Aldi means a bus ride for me, and so I've yet to try it, but tonight when I was chatting to someone at the school gates she was raving about how she'd been down on the bus today to try Aldi and she'd spent £17 on the same stuff she usually buys at Asda for £25-£30. I'm definitely tempted to pay a visit to Aldi now, but if it's anything like Lidl I'll be keeping an eye out for shuffling pensioners hiding an Olympic gold standard sprint and limbo potential

Last week, I bought loads of fruit and veg, eggs and 2 pints of skimmed milk for £8.04.

If I bought the same things at work (Sainsburys) after staff discount, it would been £12.75!

I am cheeky enough to pop into Aldi at lunchtime and plonk my shopping in the chiller! Also do that with !!!!!! and Iceland.

I bought my DD a chicken from Aldi's last week and it was over 2kgs and only £4.15p She was chuffed to bits as it did her tribe(3adults and three kids) two meals plus some sarnies.When it comes to feeding her four strapping lads plus OH she can't afford to be snobby bless her
