Hi - I am totally new to the concept of second purse and am struggling with it a bit... Can someone tell what the Rainforest is? I googled it but found nothing which referred to groceries!

Hi RS and welcome - it is Am&zon - change the & for an a - people tend to not write the correct name for a large organisation

hi everyone, I think I am a little stuck on this second purse challenge. So far we have bought the 5x 9 packs of andrex toilet rolls for £9.50 off rainforest last month but as far as bargains go that is all I can find. We were going to get the cathedral cheese which was half price at £2 but we saw own brand mild at 30p more and none of us are overly keen on really cheesy cheese. The only other thing we have bought is Nescafe 500g tub for £8.20 discounted at MrA from £12.something, although I don't consider it that much of a bargain when it used to be £4 for the 300g jars but we get through loads so maybe we do need to stock up.

Is it me not finding anything that is really bargainous or am I possibly missing something? Everyone has done so well this month and so far my second purse is empty as the toilet rolls haven't even arrived yet lol
It's the middle of the month so my guess is that the SMs put less offers on when people don't have wages coming in, so I'd expect some more in the next 2 weeks. At the moment bargains seem to be pancake related and we'll start to see some easter ones coming in soon.

With regards to things you buy normally, if you use mysupermarket then you can shop around for the best deals. The great thing about the 2nd purse is being able to improve your quality of food, so for instance I look for bargains on organic/eco-friendly food. I've found ethical organic oats for cheaper in bulk than the SMs :)

We're each going at different rates, when your Andrex arrives you'll be able to pay in to the 2nd purse when you use it and hunt out your next superb bargain :)

I shall add nescafe to the list of things I need to keep an eye out, along with the buttons and will post if I spot any :)

Thank you dreamerbee, I think it may be that we don't buy many things that can be stockpiled on. We have things like toothpaste and mouthwash (all the boring bits) stockpiled and the same with toiletries but not so much food and household essentials. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for good offers and keep an eye on the spreadsheet. Thanks for replying hun x

Finally found an offer on WW soup :D Four cans for £2 in Sainsbugs, which was great as I nearly bought some earlier in the Poundshop when it was 3 for £2.

It's a proper bargain at 50p per can, as it's normally 71p in my local supermarket. I'll be selling it at 60p per can :D

Whoever it was that has been on the lookout for choc buttons...I forget who eep... have you thought about making your own? Melt chocolate, pour into tube, squeeze out onto parchment and let set. If you can bulk buy the choc bars, this should reduce to under 40p for 40g :)

OH was rummaging about in the freezer looking for ice cream. He came running in to the sitting room with my wee bags of B/Milk.

Someone has left 'Breast Milk' in the freezer yuck! I'll just put it in the bin.

No dear its BUTTERMILK not breast milk!

This time I managed to save it, my sourdough culture copped it last week , and the other day my lemon and lime peel for a batch of marmalade. AAAAH!
