Thank you for explaining kerri_dfw. I will have to read that over a few times since maths is not my strong point. I stock up a la Edna when I see bargains on things I use. If that means OH and I buying several trays of dog food each and having a stack under the stairs, so be it.0

Thank you:) Just found 240 teabags (also PG tips) for 3.99. Slightly cheaper, right?
Price of item/amount * 100 = 1.6p instead of the 1.9.Thank you for explaining kerri_dfw. I will have to read that over a few times since maths is not my strong point. PASTA
You will need
Doves Speciality Pasta Flour type 'O' £1.39 or thereabouts.
A few clean tea towels
200g Flour
2 Large egg
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Lay one of the tea towels out and lightly dust with the flour.
Weigh the flour into a bowl , make a well in the middle and work the egg into the flour, if its too dry add a little water, hands are best for this so you can feel if the dough is coming together, if its too wet add a little flour until it all comes together, form into a ball, wrap in cling film and rest in the fridge for 30 min.
Flour the table and work pasta into a sausage shape and break into equal size balls about the size of an egg, set them aside and roll each one out in one direction making sure the dough doesn't stick to the pin or the table, you might need a light dust of flour with each roll.
It will resemble a knee high stocking when its rolled out, the thinner you can get it the better, lift carefully and place on the tea towel to dry, continue until the tea towel is covered with the rolled out dough.
place another tea towel on top, dust with flour and continue till all the pasta is used up. Leave to dry for 10-20 min.
For those of you with a pasta machine, you start off with the thickest setting and keep flouring and reducing the thickness, until you reach about 3.
Oh aye DONT EVER wash your pasta machine it will ruin it (I didn't know that) so I'm assuming some of you might not either
You can cut the pasta easily to fit your lasagna dish.
I'm always trying to improve my lasagna, the last four I made were yummy. I blitzed a full jar of A!dis sun dried tomatoes (£1) and added it to the meat sauce (I drained the oil off first and used that to fry the onions and garlic in), you still add your usual pasata or tinned/fresh tomatoes. The Sun dried tomatoes gives the meat sauce real depth of flavour.
Then with the b!chamel or cheese sauce I added a small tub of ricotta cheese, it was amazing!
My wee 17 month old granddaughter went nuts for it, I was feeding her and she pushed away the spoon and grabbed handfuls of it, and got most of it in her mouth, it was so funny. The family liked it so much they asked me to make it this way in future.:)

Week 4: Doris buys a tub of butter, no offers and a price rise so 1 tub @ £2.50
Week 4: Edna uses a tub of butter and puts £2 into her second purse. Second purse now has £8.
Bet Doris is kicking herself now! lol ...loving Doris and Ednaflying_fresian wrote: »Cat #2 has "digestive issues" (and that euphamism is necessary ) and the only thing we've found so far that sorted him out is Purina food at £5.49 for 800g which is 69p per 100g.
I bought 6x1.5kg bags from t'internet for £34.11 which is 9kg in total at 40p per 100g.
One of ours had a nasty bladder infection and the vet advised that he (the cat not the vet) was likely to be prone to them in the future so we needed to keep him on the "good stuff" so I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for Iams offers which the two of them seem to like. I'll keep an eye out for Purina too while I'm hunting and if I spot an offer I'll post it up0 -

I saw the Fabulous baking brothers on TV recently, their family sourdough culture has been going for over 50 years it can live for longer than that. I used to bake bread all the time, and stopped when I had ME, I just didn't have the strength for kneading. I have a bread maker but find the bread a bit too dense, I like a lighter bread. I've been experimenting with all sorts of bread and methods of baking, sourdough bread has a really distinctive taste and I think thats one of the nicest breads to make at home. My OH loves HM bread.
Thanks for the yeast offer Kerri I snapped up one of those.
I recently had a student from America stay with me who had two Italian grannies one from Northern Italy and one from the South, she showed me how to make homemade pasta OMG! I will never buy sheet lasagna again. One of my daughters gave me a pasta machine a few years ago for xmas and for some reason I thought it would be difficult to make, its not and its also great fun, the taste and texture of the Lasagna was completely different from shop bought and it also cooked really quick. While she was here we often cooked together, we made amazing pizza's too absolutely yummy! I will post those recipes too, if anyones interested
I love reading all your posts to see how your all doing, I'm absolutely gobsmacked at the speed the thread is going at AMAZING! I am DELIGHTED so many of you are giving it a go

My ME went away, had it for 8 years, its a horrible illness, I wish you better. I still have a poor immune system and catch bugs easily. I had pancreatitis in 2004 and was in a coma for 3 months, wasn't expected to live, but here I am still alive lol.1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:

Hmmm the price of the 20ltr fabric conditioner I use is now £5 more than the price I paid for the 5ltr one. The price seems to be tumbling, at what point should I buy it? It's already half price. Don't think the postie would be too pleased with me for making him carry it though, wohahahahaDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:
