    Hi,

I've been reading the first few pages of this thread and the links in the first couple of posts and though it sounds a great idea, I'm still a little confused.
I split with my wife last year and I'm currently living on £50 per week after all bills have been paid (that is for food/groceries/clothes/the lot)
It should be more than enough (single male, 35) but I struggle every week to live on it.
I love the idea of buying from yourself and can see this being a lot of fun when my kids come round and want to play shop but I've a couple of questions.
    1. How do you split the small things (loaf of bread/ box of cereal), do you charge yourself per bowl?
    2. I've started taking packed lunch to work as a sandwich, crisps, drink and chocolate bar costs in excess of £4 at work, how do I work out what to pay for the one I make?
Or am I looking into it too deep? do you only pay for the whole loaf, the whole ceral box etc
    3. What do I use as my starting stock? items I have already in freezer/cupboard?
    4. This question relates to purse 1. I assume this is my weekly budget purse (£50) Is this where I get my original bogof deals from as part of my usual shop or do I get my usual shop and take, lets say £5, of it and put that into purse 2 for my deals.
See I told you I'm a little confused.
    Thanks in advance
Would like to: Retire at 54. 19yrs .Clear mortgage by 50. 16yrs. Clear Secured debts by 43. 8yrs.Clear Unsecured debt by 39. 4yrs. Gain full control of my finances by 36. 1yr.Keep my head above water. Today.

Hi there. I've only been second pursing for a little while so might not be the best person to answer your questions but here goes!
    1. If I get something from my store, I normally put down the full amount for it (I buy bread flour from second purse and bake my bread and charge myself £1 per loaf). There are 4 of us though so we get through food quickly. I do split large packs of things though like toilet rolls (charge myself 50p per roll).

    2. With your packed lunch, you could charge yourself what it costs at work if you've got enough budget to do this (£20 per week for 5 days). I think I would buy the stuff from my grocery budget as normal but the 'treats' eg cakes, crisps etc from second purse as you can normally get this stuff on offer.

    3. Starting stock - I used some stuff I had already but for the first month I used £10 per week to get a stock up quickly. If you don't have enough grocery budget, just put in what you can afford (£10 per month recommended by mothership - that's what I put in now, plus second purse spends).

    4. I take the £10 per month out of my monthly grocery budget

    I hope that helps!
    Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 600

  • Hi again all! :hello:

I've been MIA for a while as I've had a lot going on in my personal life. I've been on a bit of a downer and didn't really want to bring anyone else down by moaning.

On Sunday I had to have my precious little boy-cat put to sleep. I have decided that I want to get another cat again quite soon - my house doesn't feel right without one - so I want to 'second purse' for a while to raise the cash for adoption fees/vaccines/microchip/insurance/new bed/all the other stuff you end up unexpectedly spending cash on when you adopt a new friend. I bulk-buy anyway, I just need to play shop to make sure I squirrel some of my savings away for it. Plus I just need to focus on other things.

So hi again to those I knew before, hi to all the people who started while I was away
