OK second purse has all been used on a day out with boys - oops. Oh well, I'll start again once DH has been paid.

Trying to do grocery challenge as well this month. Done lots of baking over last few days so putting lots into freezer and will charge second purse when we get them out.

Planning on getting a sack of flour for bread - any recommendations? I see Amazon have 15kg sacks for about £11 - £13. I think I could probably get it cheaper at Tescos but its much better quality and it keeps me out of supermarkets! Enjoyed having my deliveries over the last few days!

Coxy11 - we are going to cook the mini roast tomorrow so I will let you know how it is (I don't eat meat so will rely on my family as tasters!)

Verdict on mini roast from DR - nice but too small! Everyone wanted more (one husband, 10 and 5 year old). We have 2 left and I will have to cook chipolatas too when we cook them to fill them up. Usually have lots left over from a roast but it's all gone. Won't be buying them again.

    Hi all
Had some DR steak for dinner yesterday, it's so tender I was amazed, it really does seem to be as good as they say it is!
Cowboymum could you fill the hordes up with extra potatoes, veg etc or yorkshire pud like in the old days to eke out the meat? Just a thought.
    Hope everyone's well

Good thought - might try the Yorkshires to fill them up as they like those a lot. Very fussy boys (not DH though - he'll eat anything!).

cowboymum - good to know, thank you. There are 5 of us so doesn't sound like it would work for us.

My latest DR order arrived today. Pork chops, steak mince and venison burgers. Can't wait to try those burgers, but will have to wait until after our holiday as meal plan all done for this week.

Have transferred August's £20 so purse total now at £19.92 although I need to pay the purse tomorrow for items used over the weekend (CBA now!!!).

I'm a bit out of the loop on prices at the moment so not sure about the value of the flour but just be careful buying too much as flour is so so much better fresh. I can really tell the difference in my cakes and bread if I use old flour. Work out how long it might take you to use it. If you make bread most days then go for it though ;) x

Thanks HelenPie - this was the conculsion I came too as well. I go through phases of baking bread and then won't do it for ages. Have bought cheap s-burys white bread flour, but treated myself to more expensive wholemeal.
