Im trying to decide what limit to set SP2 at, I was thinking maybe £50, but adding £20pm to get my store started properly.....

Also, what's the cost of using something from the freezer? 50p? £1?

    Eppp

I stuck at a SP limit of £20 for a bit (just me here) but have revised it up to £50....I wont go over that.

What sort of stuff from the freezer are you thinking of?

I put 50p aside for a pudding, jelly and ice-cream for example.....if I have ice-creams like Magnums or Cornetto in the freezer, I only buy from SM if they cost 50p or less, but pay back £1.00 each (corner shop price-ish).

Mothership puts aside £3.00 for meat from her freezer.

I tend to charge what I paid + an extra 50p to £1.00 - so for example I use chicken costing £1.99 but pay back £3.00.

The great thing about SPing is the flexibility, so I tend to pay more when I have spare cash....when I am having a broke week, I pay back less :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Went to M@rris@ns with DD2, I had a £5 off voucher for a £40 spend, so filled my trolly, DD2 went through the checkout first, then pushed me out of the way and paid for all my shopping £57 + £5 worth. Mostly fruit veg and perishables.
So all I managed to spend was 50p on the paper for the vouchers.
I'm going to get her some DR meat as a thank you, she and DGD have been having dinner with us every night for the last month or so, so I suppose she wanted to contribute something. Wasn't that a nice surprise?

Re- paying for freezer goods. I just pay for the DR Meat £3 per item even if it costs more than that, to help pay for re-stocking. I only have frozen peas, fish fingers, pastry etc; in the freezers, no bread or anything.
I mentioned a while back that I stopped buying pork because I thought it had an aftertaste when it had been frozen, thats 3 lots of pork I've had from DR, and it all was absolutely gorgeous. I've been saying for years SM pork tasted funny and I just stopped buying it.

My DGS was visiting the other day and he was horrified that there was no pizzas or anything you could 'just pop in the oven', and that everything was made from scratch. I stopped buying processed foods around about the time I first joined MSE . Thats where all the extra money I used to spend was going.
We are eating better than we ever did now, I'm so pleased so many of you are using DR, I think they deserve their Royal Warrant as their meat is so good. Next time you tuck into something from DR just think the queen could have got that bit of meat ROTFLMAO!:rotfl:

I second Mothership, the DR pork we had in the bbq selection was deeeelicious. I didn't recognise the taste of them as I've only eaten SM pork and it's flavourless. Amazing.

    Welcome back Annie

I suppose it depends on whether your a 'from scratch' cooker or a 'jar' cooker. Those meals you have listed are exactly what I cook for the family :D They are jar heads, so I have a huge stock of Dolmio Lasagne Sauce/Spag Bog Sauce, Sharwoods Curry Sauce and the Blue Dragon Sachets.
Mr C0-op have their Dolmio sauces on 99p at the minute so if I didnt have a cupboard full I would use my entire £10 on them as I know we use them all the time IYSWIM

If your struggling with your buying back, are you charging everything back at RRP? You could try lowering your shop prices. It did take me a while to find the right prices to stop me struggling as I usually buy in bulk on deals anyway, so I now buy back at what I would be willing to pay not what the SM tell me its worth :)

Hi Annie, I agree with Jakesmum. It really helped me when I first started to go through my reciepts and take a good look at what I bought on a regular basis - it may surprise you! These are the things that will really make your SP pay.

I would also recommend that you keep an eye open for the £5 off your weekly shop vouchers in the daily papers (there is a thread on the discount codes and vouchers board). They seem to crop up at the end of the month and most of the SM's seem to appear. I use these to add 'free' stuff to my stock. Last month it was baked beans, this week it was kidney beans, tinned sweetcorn and long life custard. Not very exciting and these weren't on a special offer, but they didn't cost me anything:j. I can buy them back at a lower cost and still get a good profit for my SP.

I also pay my SP back on a weekly basis. This means that I always have a pot of money if I see something on offer that I buy regularly. I have an electronic purse so that if I see a bargain on Ama*on or want to place an order with DR, the money is easy to transfer.

It's making the system work for you. I promise if you stick at it, you will soon make your grocery budget stretch further and further:D

I good a good SP bargain today :D

I eat a LOT of cheese triangles as I'm doing Fat Club and low-fat cheese with Ryvita is an easy snack to take to work. Last week I bought two packs of eight Dairylea triangles from Te$co for £2 as that's not an awful price. Today I bought a pack of 16 triangle for £1 from Sainsbugs :D I'll buy them back at £1.50 per pack and my SP makes a tidy profit. I bought three packs, and I'll check the shelf-life and go back for more if needed!

I got some chicken breast (x4 packs) from MrT today. They are on offer at £3 half-price for a 500g pack. The value chicken breast 600g packs are £6 and are in the fridges on the ends of the aisle - making it look like a bargain. Flaming SMs.......

    HTH someone.
