Yey I have made my FIRST purchase from my THIRD purse.:j:j Bought the meat slicer from lakeland at a cost of £40.99. Am going to get a joint of gammon and make my own ham as am fed up of paying silly prices for ham in the SM. They also have a machine that vacuum seals your food at £54 so thinking of getting that too from 3P. Was going to buy the JML one but in lakeland you get a lifetime guarantee, so that is quite attractive imho.

Thats fantastic! I got a slicer last year that was posted on the grabbit board. It really does make your meat go further. The Vacuum sealer sounds great , I will check that out.

I got a lovely gammon Joint from Makro yesterday for £3.73 over 2 kg weight County Corner Joints well worth the money for those of you that have a Makro card.

Your in a good place MunniMuncha all your hard work will be rewarded now.
I'm sad to see a few of you leaving the challenge, but understand that in these hard times we have to cut our suits according to our cloth.
In the early years when my family were young, the 2nd Purse took a lot of pressure off me financially as I was always able to feed my family, but I used the profits to pay bills many a time. I do hope that you will take what you've learned here and keep bargain hunting. Good luck to you :)

Lots of us were the same, I read and re-read Motherships original threads and just couldn't "get it" but as soon as I actually started to DO IT, it suddenly became very clear!

    Example:-

    SP has £10 float.

You see your fave cereal for 1/2 price and pay £1.00 out of your SP.

SP now has £9 and you have a packet of cereal in your shop.

When you need to open a new box of cereal, you take it from YOUR shop and not a supermarket and pay yourself the usual supermarket price of £2.00.....

So £1.00 goes to SP to bring you back up to your balance of £10 and the £1 "profit" goes in 3rd Purse.

    That's how I do it.

Some people keep putting profit into SP until it gets to the level they want but I am too impatient! :rotfl:

Yes, I put my hand up to that one - think I was the thickest one on here when it came to understanding how the SP worked:rotfl::rotfl:

I also do the same as Fozzie and put profit straight into 3P - see my signature to see how much I have accumulated in about 3 months:j:j

It is second nature now to go to MunniMart and buy from my shop, so much so that I begrudge going to the SM's now and give them my money, but know this has to be done to go and get more bargains. I myself am now a Lidl girl and only use the big SM's to get what I can from them and nothing else:D

Take the leap of faith PrincessLou, I promise you won't regret it;)

PrincessLou I'm on the tablet at the moment but will add you when I'm back on the laptop. Welcome to the world of shopping with your eyes wide open. I hardly go to the SM anymore, I order a veg box fortnightly and everything else comes from online or special trips for offers only. I've even started making my own bread as its so much cheaper than the £1+ from the SM. I was a massive sleep-shopper before I read motherships posts.

Oh and my parents won't eat anything but DR meat now :)

Another £5 added to the 3rd purse so things are speeding up now, I was checking my "stock" earlier and noticed that the invisible man must have taken a kitchen roll when we were all out (nobody else did apparently), I paid for the "stolen" item, said on this occasion I wouldn't involve the police - but I may not be so understanding if stock is stolen again - I'm running a business and all losses have to be accounted for. At times like this I'm sure my husband wonders what he has done to deserve this..........
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Oh dear, just showed DH the meat slicer on Lakeland and hes announced 'we're having one of those, buy it!' every time I think hes getting better he proves he hasnt learnt a darned thing about saving and budgetting!

Hes currently sat next to me justifying the cost 'think how much money we would save on ham and cheese!!' :rotfl: :rotfl:

Jakes mum, do denby do one? you could save pennies by getting it from one of the outlet villages, ones near you are Clacton and Braintree. Not sure how far that is from you, but might save some prnnies
