Ah, yes - I've been generally absent recently so a lot of skim reading and late catch ups ;)

Why do you have to update twice? I have quite a simple spreadsheet that I use to record my stock and it works out my amounts owed and purse balances from that....is yours a bit fancy? :p

No I'm just not very good with spreadsheets I think. Maybe I need to overhaul mine and make it less complicated, that way I can just put in how much I've used, what I've bought, and it'll tell me what I owe the purse. Then maybe I need a column for how much I've put into the purse. That sounds soooo much simpler actually! Will start on it now :D

Hello girls (and not forgetting any guys out there too), have been away for the weekend so trying to catch up with everyone's posts.

I'm glad you mention this about spreadsheets as I was going to post about this anyway. I have a system like yours Helen where it works out the money side of things for me (used the one on page 1 but in excel) but am finding it very complicated when I buy something at one price and then again at another price so have it in two places. I then get myself confused as to which one is which (which I know in the long term it'll work itself out when I use the stuff up) but my biggest thing that confuses me is when I pay back 2nd purse and take these amounts off spreadsheet, don't know what has been paid for and what hasn't if I forget to update stock (iyswim). What do others do?

I actually repeat the item further down the list and strike-through items that are out of stock. For example, I'd bought cat food on 21/01, 2 boxes for £5. When I'd used these, I crossed out the item so I can see that I'm out. I have later entries, for example I bought 8 boxes on 03/03 for £24. This line is still active.

It's not particularly elegant, and may get messy as the list gets long, but I will just hide the rows at that stage.

Again, I'm happy to share my sheet with anyone that wants it. Just pm me your email address and I'll share it via google docs or will happily email.

As far as knowing what's used/not used, I update my sheet based on how many item's I think I've 'sold' to myself, which works out how much I owe SP. I then do a quick stock take every now and then to make sure that what's left matches the spreadsheet.

I've redone my entire spreadsheet after using it for awhile, I've taken elements of Helens which is fabby by the way (it taught me how to use the forumae better ;) ) I'll update the front spreadsheet so it's less complicated when I get back to normal internet :) hope you're all ok xx

I do something similar but make the line solid red when it has been sold. If you hide something that has been used up, does that affect the formulas at all? I would love to see your spreadsheet but am not familiar with google docs so use excel.

I also do it a new tab each month so that the list doesn't get too long. Like you say it is very messy and would love to know if there is a way of keeping it a bit more tidy, but maybe there isn't a way and it is just one of those things. Thanks HP for your help:T:T
