Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I tried the frozen Roast Winter Vegetables today, not quite as nice as the herbed and seasoned Mediterranean veg that was available a while ago, but marvellous value for convenience veg.
The German specialties are back in; as well as Christmas gingerbreads they have 260g jars of German mustard, which is quite mild. (89p) It goes great with their bratwurst for an authentic German flavour.
The rye bread is back too, 79p for 500g . They used to sell this all the time, I was gutted when they stopped.
Great with salami or cheese.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for this thread, just bought the home fries from Aldi in the green bag for 99p for 1kg & very similar to Mccain so money to save there!
Just wondering if anyone has tried the crinkle cut fries @ 99p but for 1.5kg?
I also like from Aldi midget gems @ 31p & pain au chocolat £1.29 for 8

They have recently moved all the stuff about ,supermarkets do this to increase sales, the spinach in my Aldi is now with the pre-packed salad items.
You're right about the moving around of stock.
Like pauline, I tend to use frozen spinach more but when I want salad leaves I try to buy baby spinach. Any not used fresh can then be added to sauces/casseroles. I'm told you can do this with other salad leaves (saw Jamie Oliver cooking lettuce) but haven't tried it. Salad leaves is the only food that occasionally gets wasted in this house, but only about once a year!:rotfl:0 -

In Lidl today and found 6 medium organic eggs for 1.99 :T and living mini poinsettias £1 each.
The Rachel's organic yogurt offer at Lidl isn't a good one - 350g for 99p - as Sainsbury's had 450g for £1 !
Lidl had Miracle on 34th Street DVD for 2.99 (as did Home Bargains) and 16 Nouvelle loo rolls for 3.990 -

It's taken all my willpower but not succumbed to temptation yet! I have it up in the top cupboard out of harm's way and to reach it I would have to go in the garage for the step stool!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
