VfM4meplse will be along shortly to congratulate Lidl on their sensible intervention. She will also give you a recipe to make baked rissoles from shredded sweet potato that doesn't use fat. No doubt you will also be able to form them in bulk and cook from frozen.0 -
I honestly don't see the point of buying frozen chips...EVER!! Real potato chips are far cheaper, not to mention healthier if you use an Actifry or bake in the oven.0

I once tried the Aldi SS Maris piper frozen chips, and yes, they're reasonably tasty as far as frozen chips go, but they're also very dry. We first sampled them with pie and gravy so got away with it. But when I used the rest of the bag without any sauce/gravy they were less than pleasant. I won't be buying them again.
I much prefer to use real potatoes. Cheap, healthy and packed full of potassium and B vitamins.0 -

Besides the above statement being inaccurate you appear not to realise that in the real world there are times when (for example) the amount of chips required or the speed at which these chips will be required will rule out your suggestion.
Or maybe you can explain where I can buy 1kg of spuds (not 25kg as I would take 6 months to use that many) - I won't go into "peeled & chipped" - and a free Actifry OR get them par-cooked for 57 pence?
AND be cooked, ready, & on the plate in twenty minutes?
BTW, most-often (and on the rare times I do actually use chips) I will prepare them as per Slimming World's recipe.
HOWEVER there are times when using frozen chips is easier and more-convenient and this is (I am assured) the reason so many of "us" possess a freezer.

Yup, sure enough a true reflection of what these forums have sadly become.0 -

Ok, firstly I live alone so mostly cook just for myself. I don't buy huge sacks of spuds, just the regular supermarket bags. A 2.5kg bag costing 99p will last me a month or more.
I've owned my Actifry for 5+ years so has more than paid for itself in terms of cost and health benefit. I can cook myself a portion of chips with just a drizzle of oil in 15 minutes.
But if I didn't have an Actifry then I would bake my freshly cut potato chips in the oven for 20-30mins, depending how thick I cut them. Wedges tend to take at least 30 mins.
I'm sure frozen chips take at least as long to cook, if not longer. As for prepping them, how long does it take to cut a potato into chips? 30-60 seconds?0 -

I hope they don't, I've been known to eat a whole packet myself! They're so sweet and sickly - gorgeous.
The stollen bites are gorgeous too. I hope they still have plenty of Xmas stuff left on Xmas Eve, no point in buying before that, there'd be none left by the big day. I need saving from myself!0 -

We buy Aldi's steak cut oven chips, which are just sunflower oil and potatoes, I can!cook them in 10 minutes in our Panasonic combi, but HM oven chips take nearly 3 times as long - which is a lot of electric. Frozen oven chips are perfect for those rare days when I walk in the house and need dinner on the table in 15 minutes.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Yep ................ and I will enjoy every single delicious spoonful too!
.....and the mince pies, and the brandy sauce, and the oh-too-thick icing on the Xmas Cake.
All from Aldi of course, just to keep this on topic!0 -

Some of us take our health more seriously than considering where to buy the cheapest junk food items
Thankfully, Aldi has very few compared to the larger supermarkets.0
