Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Disappointed as went to Aldi specifically today, rather than yesterday or tomorrow to get some horsey socks as a present and also look at the country boots - for another present - and the batteries for numerous lights that I have which state they don't work well with rechargeables.
Socks yes I'm stock, no sign of country boots, or battery packs I know stuff sells out quick but really, I can't start taking the morning off just so I can go to Aldi!
Worth searching other shops, ? Dunno, probably not got time any working the weekend. Anyway rant over
I went to my local aldi yesterday lunchtime and there were no boots left then. I have been told that each store only got 6 pairs each and looking at the very small space that they'd previously occupied I can well believe it.
There was very little left of anything else as well. Aldi's equestrian stuff is very good and very cheap. People queue up at opening time to buy it.
The batteries were beside the till.0 -

sometimes stores get very limited supply of special buys. this happened to us a few years ago when we wanted one of the 32" inch tvs. the store manager was stacking shelves (as they do) and we asked if they were having more in......the answer was no, but he was kind enough to go back in the office and locate one in a nearby branch for us!!!! now that is going the extra mile! so it may be worth asking a manager or deputy manager about stocks?0

Agree! However, I am at the other end of the scale - size 3 - and they are too big for me. However, I got a pair of their snow boots for children size 3 and they have been going strong and kept my feet warm in the snow for years!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. This kinda makes me sad thinking I just bagged a bargain in buying a reputable country boot at less than half RRP but I've still paid £100 more than these Aldi ones. Has anyone bought these? I'd love to know quality0 -

All of these shoes are made in the far east at a cost price of a pound or two. The only real difference, in most cases, is the branding and the marketing. A £15 Aldi pair is likely to be little different from a branded pair selling at £120.0 -
I can't comment on Aldi shoes, but I bought some very comfortable black wellies from Lidl about 8 years ago for £4.... they are still going strong and I have worn them a LOT.0

For the second full week running there were no 57p-odd frozen oven chips in our local Lidl - and one of the family visits at least every other day.
Making way for more-profitable festive foodstuffs, methinks.
The Lidl baked beans have changed brands (and recipe too, it seems) though they remain 4 for £1.
The grated mixed cheese seems to be no longer stocked and I also note that - like last year - there are none of the "fancier" large chocolate Santa's amongst the Christmas offerings. The ones that (used to) look similar to Thorntons ones I mean; that is a shame because they were very good.
Before anyone asks me to question in-store, I have - repeatedly - and find that even the managers' are .......... um (struggles to remain polite) .......... not very well informed.
Stock control (at our Lidl anyway) seems VERY poor - it is due for a major refit after Christmas and many locals (myself included) hope it improves when the shop eventually reopens.
On a brighter note, the new Aldi nearby will open early in December. :T and double :T:T0
