Aldi's meat and poultry is all produced in the UK to high welfare standards and is excellent quality. Unlike the other supermarkets..
I love both Aldi & Lidl - but you have been taken in by Aldis marketing . The actual quote on their webpage
https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/fresh-bakery/best-of-british-meat/
is
"
Here at Aldi we are committed to providing you with the best Britain has to offer and that means 100% British meat across our fresh meat range*.
"
The most important character in the whole quote is the * at the end. At the bottom of the page it gives the meaning of the * as "* Excludes promotional products"
So the quote really says - "We sell 100% british meat unless we can source and sell it cheaper from somewhere else "
( I am NOT saying that Aldi meat is any different from anywhere else - you just have to be careful with what you read )0 -

Let's get it 100%....
So the quote really says - "We sell 100% British meat unless we can source and sell it on promotion from somewhere else".
In other words, customers can use that fact to determine whether they want to buy British meat.0 -

Indeed they can , but you need to look at the labels. Aldi are no different to anywhere else. I was just correcting Feral Moons statement that ALL Aldi meat was British0 -
Lidl Wild Pink Salmon fillets (2 fillets for £1.65). Frozen.
This seems like a bit of a bargain to me, but am I missing something? Is wild salmon "worse" than farmed? I would have thought better?0 -

Probably referring to the Wagyu beef they often have on specials which obviously isn't produced in the UK.0 -

I stood before the freezer wondering the same, I'd have thought it is better than farmed - maybe it's cheaper to just "harvest" them than feed them first?First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Lots of seasonal 'end of season' reductions in my Aldi, as seasoned Aldi-ites know, many Aldi items are seasonal, to enable them to offer a wider range.
Reductions range from 25- 50%. Ice-creams, sorbets, salad dressings, cold meats caught my eye.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

There was a feature on the production of Wagyu burgers on this weeks "Food Unwrapped" on Channel 4 ( series 6 episode 2 - starting from around 6 mins & from 20 mins)
To qualify as Wagyu , the cows only have to be 50% wagyu ( so an animal bred from a Wagyu bull and another cattle breed )
The burger meat is ( obviously ) the offcuts from other cuts
The factory where the burgers where being made described the meat as having having been imported from "different countries" around the world.
