....I've just purchased a "ready meal," (...I know but it was for my hubby to take to work on a late shift..) today with a use by date of 30 Aug. After a phone call to the customer service, all I got was a well next time your shopping ask for a refund.

"Really", I said" is that it?"....and long story short, this was the response.

Obviously human error, but 2 days out of date how poor is this!

What else were you expecting? A refund sounds fair, and as you say it's human error... mistakes happen. And it's only 2 days, I'd probably just have eaten it.

Not much else he could have said. And as the poster above, unless it contained prawns then I'd probably have eaten it too if it looked and smelled ok.

A refund to be sent to me, or at least the option. It was use by, not sell by so I didn't take the risk.

The "Beautifully Buttery" or whatever it's called from Aldi is vile. It doesn't melt, just kind of.. emulsifies?!

There is a difference between "use by" and "don't use after"...

I bought a packet of oats from Asda 8 months out of date and similarly got the offer only of a refund although they posted it in the form of a giftcard:mad:

Any of the so-called "butteries" they sell in any supermarket is a vile sludge of hydrogenated fats and chemicals. Would never buy any of them. Real butter only for me.
  • They reckon real butter is healthier. It certainly is nicer.
