B&M and Home Bargains sell this kind of stuff all year round at Aldi prices
Aldi have always done seasonal lines, in an effort to stock as much variety as possible, but at the time of year when it's most in demand. It's a nuisance when you want something out of their perceived season, like Black Forest Ham in my case, but that's the type of thinking that keeps their prices low.
A thought that B&M & HB may be cheap because they buy up the bankrupt or nearing OOD stocks of companies that don't employ that type of thinking?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... why on earth do aldi think frozen mashed potato should only be eaten in the autumn/winter - I eat it all year as its so convenient after a hard days work and I dislike oven chips.0

I'm surprised that with Aldi's strange policy over selling stuff like bbq sauce only in spring and summer, they don't sell any salad stuff including dressings in the winterThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

or maybe they were expecting store to open at 10am ?
I thought most supermarkets in England/Wales opened at 10am on a Sunday ( or unlimited times in Scotland )?
The queue was because of the popularity of the place.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I love the crayfish tails from Lidl, have them with salad for lunch or in pasta with some cream cheese for evening meal. They are delicious! I think they have gone up in price recently though as saw them at £1.49 today, think they were less than that previously.0

Was in my local Aldi on Bank holiday Monday.
They are selling frozen winter roasted vegetable packs, reduced to get rid of them. No doubt because it is now not Winter. The more I live, the more I learn.

Blimey they have shot up since I last bought them a month ago. Think they were 50p.
I noticed the multipack crisps are now 75p. It seems some prices have risen but others come down.
I use B&M now for my BBQ sauce out-of-season. I guess it doesn't sell well in Winter. Who doesn't want Fiery Ketchup though in the winter with your chips?!
Our Aldi is having an extension and they have nearly finished. They have broke through the wall now into the old warehouse and moved the fridges in there. I'm not sure how much they will expand there product range (if they do at all) as I'm not sure what exactly they don't stock compared to other Aldi stores but it will be weird to have an additional two aisles.0 -

Because they operate on a seasonal basis like all shops should do, hence keeping prices low and not importing goods from around the world to supply out of season products like Tesco et al do.0 -

I have to ask why on earth you want to buy frozen mash? I didn't even realise Aldi sold it. In fact I didn't even realise it existed :rotfl:0 -
because making home made mash after a hard days work involves peeling spuds, cooking for half an hour, mashing spuds while your other veg get cold (I use a steamer). Frozen - just slap exactly what you need in microwave and then add a little milk or butter.0
