Not a good / bad buy, just a comment about Lidl.

Got there just before opening at 11am this morning, parking was tight (due to its location, there's no benefit to non-Lidl shoppers in parking there) and there was a huge crowd waiting outside, it was like shopping at Christmas. Testimony to the popularity of the store.

Thankfully because I knew what I wanted, I was in and out in 20 mins, despite some unplanned purchases (toilet rolls = necessary; mega-packs of crisps, muesli bars = desirable :D) and a chat with the lady at the till. The staff are just so efficient.

or maybe they were expecting store to open at 10am ?

I thought most supermarkets in England/Wales opened at 10am on a Sunday ( or unlimited times in Scotland )?

I can't go to my local one - its been demolished, with a new one in process of rebuilt.
Yet, I can't see me buying much there:
    - I used to like 'Bixies' but having gone back to 'Brands' I'm happier with stocking up on offers, likewise with the 'Shreddies' type - rate them between Tesco Value & own brand, again prefer Nestles when on half price promotions.
    - bakery great, have a passion for cinnamon whirls much cheaper than elsewhere - but too doughy, the other main supermarkets are all similar - nice and flaky,
    - Ready meals - no much too salty to taste.
    - try milk, no goes off too quickly, usually buy three or four 4 pints elsewhere last about a week. Lidls the second one goes off.

What would I buy, vegetables & biscuits.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

PM'd Redfox and moved it back.

Says there could be a glitch in the software?

If the thread keeps moving annoys most of us, do you think starting a new thread may help? I think the age of the thread maybe the cause of this.

No, it only annoys those of you who don't subscribe to it.

Bought some of the specially selected Aberdeen Angus burgers from Aldi last week, we have had them before and they have always been delicious. They were on offer with a price reduction, and they were absolutely awful - flavourless and a strange texture.

Not sure if it was just a bad batch, or if they changed the recipe in order to cut the price, but it does put you off trying them again.

Most near me in London are either 11am or 12pm on a Sunday, have been for years.

I buy £ 1.99 olive oils from both stores. I prefer the taste of Aldi's but absolutely hate the plastic bottle. I now refill a Lidl glass bottle with Aldi's oil, lol.

Now Lidl has also gone for plastic, aarrrggghhh. Easier to carry but I'd still rather use glass! Lidl HQ, read my posts!

Cat food revamp at Aldi has made the boxes 4 p dearer. Cat doesn't mind, she's happy with it.
I hope the cat that got sick after eating it got better and the sickness wasn't caused by the food or you'll have to pay at least £ 1 more elsewhere per box...

I was pleased to see THREE varities of BBQ sauce this year. Smokey, Honey and Hot for 79p each. Also Fiery Ketchup is back for 79p. I think this is a 4p increase on last year but we'll let them off. I just wish they did these sauces year round as I end up going elsewhere for BBQ sauce.

Can't see a mention of them elsewhere so a quick mention for a new-ish product, the Aldi Thins crispbreads. A dupe of the Ryvita Thins. 99p a box, sweet chilli, multigrain and I think, cheese and black pepper.

Quite a kick with the sweet chilli Thins, overall, a really good product. I noticed the ordinary rye and sesame crispbread is now 69p, possibly it has been for a little while, but it's not so long ago it was 49p, or was it 39 even? Still very nice.

I do wonder why Aldi seem to stock BBQ sauce during May- Sept when the others stock it all year round.

B&M and Home Bargains sell this kind of stuff all year round at Aldi prices
