I thought I was only person who brought them. I buy mackerel in oil and tomato sauce. And sardines in tomato sauce. OH likes to eat them as snack with brown bread.:)

    Aldi :-
    Gooseberry fruit fool - lovely
Cauliflower , peppers , pears , onions - all nice and fresh and have lasted well
    Cream cheese
Large frozen prawns - at £2.99 for a large bag excellent value and delicious.
The fresh free range chicken - beautiful and an utter snip at £4.99

Wasn't so keen on the bag of bistro salad though

Been for my second shop there and we were gobsmacked at the total, I think we are 'converted' :j

I find the tinned Mackerel a little more fishy than similar products elsewhere. Although it is significantly cheaper. (58p last time I bought it).

my local Aldi had the mackerel in Tomato sauce yesterday- but no mackerel in oil! The grandgirls love it, although they refer to it as 'Stinky fish'!

As I've commented before, Aldi's sour dough white bloomer is head and shoulders above most supermarket bread - and it lasts very well. It's also extremely well priced (around £1 ISTR).
Sadly I've never seen it in our store.

The fresh lasagne at Aldi is very nice at £2.69p. I dont eat huge amounts so cut it into 3 and freeze 2 portions for another time. I get it out the freezer and totally defrost before putting it in the oven to warm.

The breaded ham is nice too, 5 slices for 89p.

2 fresh salmon fillets are really lovely and the chicken breasts are nice too.

Just noticed this thread seems to have been put back in the Gone Off section, I wonder why as it is updated just about daily ?

Oh dear, normally I sing Aldi's praises, esp the meat. However yesterday I bought a small fresh chicken ready for my visitors arriving tomorrow for the week so we can have salad and sandwiches during their stay. Cooking it now and instead of the usual gorgeous roast chicken smell pervading the house I don't really know how to describe it. Wet dog maybe? It's awful. The chicken isn't completely cooked yet and it looks pretty normal, but I think it's egg mayo sandwiches (my own bantam eggs) for the next week. Not sure what to do. It was £3 or thereabouts which is quite a lot of money for me. I can't go back to Aldi with a cooked and prodded chicken in a bag can I? Anyway, I won't get the chance with visitors. The wrapper in the bin says Aug 14th so it should've been fine. Such a disappointment.

    Liz
