If the people posting about Aldi overcharging genuinely beleive it is a nationwide problem why not start a thread asking people to report overcharging incidents.
Hear, hear. And there is a completely different section where whingers can bleat about car parks, too.

I agree that the 'tried and tested' products are the main reason for the thread but surely you'd want to be alerted to the risk of being overcharged or fined in the car park? It could prove to be an expensive shopping trip otherwise.

I do apologise cutestkids - yes this is about 'good and bad buys' from A and L. So here is a bad buy - the 'Mistik' aerosol room freshener supposedly of 'Fresh Linen' is absolutely disgusting! its going back on Thursday for a refund!

It smells more of incense with an underlying note of Koala Poo (Eucalyptus).

    Aldi Hi-Juice Blackcurrant - delicious.

Aldi Bavarian Smoked Ham - bit expensive, but very lean and tasty
  • Cold pressed rapeseed oil. £1.99 for 500ml.

Nice oil from British farms. Typical price elsewhere about £3.00

Out of the last 11 post on this page 9 of them have nothing to do with good or bad buys from Aldi or Lidl. Instead there are a small number of posters who only want to talk about how much Aldi has overcharged and the reasons for it. This is happening more and more on this thread now.

As a relatively new customer of Aldi I read this thread to see what people think of the products. However I am having to scan down umpteen unrelated posts to find information that I want. Sometimes an entire page can go by with no actual products mentioned.

If the people posting about Aldi overcharging genuinely beleive it is a nationwide problem why not start a thread asking people to report overcharging incidents. This would not only give a clearer view of the extent of the problem but it would mean those of us that just want to read about the products could do so.

Is it so very difficult for you to scan a page for what you deem to be relevant posts? This is a discussion forum relating to Aldi and Lidl, and it's hardly surprising that in a discussion forum people are going to discuss the wider issue relating to Aldi and Lidl. That's what discussion is all about.

People are interested in the individual food items, certainly, but I don't think one person needs to dictate what shall or shall not be discussed. If there are other issues relevant to shopping at Aldi and Lidl (and there have been several discussed over the months - such as the range of foods on offer, the comparative prices, the checkout experience etc) isn't that just as useful to an intending Aldi/Lidl customer?

And if one of the two has gained a reputation for overcharging its customers, isn't that something that's also relevant to new customers? There's a great deal of information in this forum on individual food items, and a great deal of other useful information too. Is it really so difficult to skip the bits that don't interest you?

Do they do a "full fat" version of the blackcurrant? We can only find "lots of aspertame" flavour and like all aspertame packed drinks it is disgusting.

I was in Aldi today and was thinking of trying the other flavours, but from what I could see (without my glasses) the Blackcurrant is 50% juice and no added sugar, where the other flavours (Apple, Orange and Summer Fruits) are 50% juice and sweetened at least in part with sugar.

I'm on a diet, and got the Blackcurrant for the first time last week, because it said it was only 11 cals per serving. The other flavours are 60-70 cals per serving.

It's the most delicious 11 cals I've ever come across. :)

I second the rapeseed oil in aldi but it seems its not going to be a permanent line so I will stock up.
I am very impressed by aldi halloumi. Much cheaper than other supermarkets and comes in plain and chilli versions. Great for the barbie.
Also my aldi have just started doing a multi grain thick cut bloomer. Lovely makes a great cheese and pickle sandwich. I cannot be the only one who thinks its good as if I go a bit later in the day they are all gone. Its less than £1.

Aldi's ordinary white bloomer is exceptional, too. The hideous 'own brand' white muck in Sainsbury's, Tesco etc is barely fit to eat but the Aldi bloomer is excellent stuff.Highly recommended!
