higher salt and sugar? that's rubbish. I read the labels as its a habit from when youngest son was dairy allergic - I still do it because I need to keep an eye on OHs diet. the reason Aldi's stuff often tastes better is because the 'QUALITY' is there.0

I bought the super 6 meat - stuffed chicken thighs and they were really really tasty. I cooked them on a rack so the skin was crispy and the two thighs were huge and easily fed three of us.
I must admit I don't like the milk because I am a Cravendale fan. I do think that their cheese is superior to all other supermarket cheeses.Jane

Cooking for friend on Thursday night. Which one do you reccomend I cook. I can't remember the last time I cooked steak( not a big red meat eater?
Any tips on how to cook it?
The Aldi aged steak is great. I cook it the Heston way. Very hot grill pan, room temperature steak with a thin coating of oil, pepper, no salt as it draws out the moisture, put on grill pan and turn over every 15 seconds. After 3-4 minutes it will have a crisp outer and moist centre. Remove and leave to rest for 5-10 minutes.0 -

Aldi sensitive toothpaste in the pink tube 59p..excellent0

I bought some mixed peppers from Aldi 3 weeks ago, stuck them in the fridge and they're still going strong!0

Had some Lidl sirloin- superb. Recommend.
I don't have an Aldi nearby but several of my wine expert friends rave about the wine. The Picpoul de Pinet is absolutely gorgeous = lovely summery white wine. The Pinot Noir is a gorgeous smooth red which would go nice with steak.
Edited to add: the Albarino is rather lovely too!0 -

I can vouch for the picpoul de pinet its decent stuff.

Used Aldi coconut milk last night. It was as good as any I've used, and I'll be getting it again. Tried the Mosser Rosse chocolate with caramel pieces last night. A big big mistake.it was very good!!
I'm going to have to stay away from the chocolate aisle in future:D0 -
Sugar and salt are always going to be over-represented in cheap products.
But since cutting down on salt, I've found unusual products lurking in the Aldi/Lidl aisles, that I would have expected to have to go to a health-food shop for...
- Lidl unsalted pistachio nuts (sadly not in every store)
- Aldi unsalted (well "salt your own") crisps
I also like Aldi cured Turkey or Chicken (less salt than ham), and Aldi cholesterol-reducing yogurt drinks (half the price of Benecol).0
