I love Aldi's part baked wholemeal mini baguettes. So yummy. I even make a mini garlic bread from them. Cut 3 slices in them (don't cut all the way through), then mix butter, garlic granules and parsley into a paste and spread in the slices.

What i buy from Aldi :

Chocolate digestives, can't tell the difference from McVities
    Oatie biscuits, like HobNobs
    Jaffa Cakes, better than MacVities
Chocolate chip cookies, the Everyday Essentials ones
Snackrite Crisps, all flavours, nicest crisps we've had for years.
    Soy Sauce
    Dried Noodles
Any type of pasta or rice
    All fruit and veg
    Chicken breast fillets
    Pork sausages
    Streaky bacon
    Stonebaked pizzas the £1.99 ones
    Balsamic salad dressing
Tuna in brine, as good as John West and 57p a tin
    Anchovies
    Torchon Ham
    Norpack butter spread
    Milk
Wine, never pay more than £3.50 a bottle, not had a bad one yet !
Magnum all in one dishwasher tablets

I love Aldi, there's always something different to look at, the Christmas stuff in there at the moment is really good.

I love the fat-free Pro-active yogurts (4 pack). The forest fruits one is delicious, really fruity.

Whoops, should have said these are from Aldi!

    Oaties... Better than hob nobs!

Mcvities changed their recipe to make them healthier and they are orrible.. the oaties are much more yummy:T

Nays - don't like their margarines and "butter" (norpack)
We have switched our main shop to aldi though recently. It just makes much more sense as volume wise you get so much more

The frozen garlic bread from Aldi isn't bad, pretty much the same as that from the big 4 supermarkets.

Reading a lot of these posts, all this thread really goes to show is that some people will like a product while other people won't, same as any other supermarket! ;)

Yes but for those who are new to Aldi or Lidl they could find something they could potentially like then this thread is helpful but yes its all down to personal taste.

Given that there seems to be no need for a 'Good and Bad Buys in Tesco/Asda/Morrisons/Waitrose etc' thread, in reality there's absolutely no need for this one, either.

I only say that because pretty well all the food in Aldi and Lidl comes from exactly the same manufacturers as that from any of the other supermarkets.

The Stilton, for example, comes from the same dairy that supplies M&S and is every bit as good at a fraction of the price.

Ribena - "Product before dilution contains 22% juice"
Aldi/Lidl high juice blackcurrant - contains 50% juice.

Pretty much whatever you buy from Aldi/Lidl will be as good as anything you buy elsewhere - it's just that the price is likely to be a lot lower. People are realising that now, and at last the stigma is going. In our town it's the Tesco that's downmarket - far better cars and customers in the Aldi next door! :)
