But then I do tend to shop between 20:00-22:00 which is invariably a quiet period. Why do others not do the same?

No thanks. Shopping is a no-fun activity akin to being at work. Evenings are for chilling out and doing your own thing. I don't care if I had the shop all to myself, I'd rather brave the crowds at tea time (or earlier on a day off) than spend a precious evening shopping anywhere. Each to their own.

Tried it, but poor stock levels have been problematic.

But does anyone else have stores with very few small trollies? I feel silly pushing a big trolley for 7 items.
Some Lidl stores only have the large trollies, and Aldi run out of the small ones pretty quickly.

They're far more popular than the large ones, but the stores don't like them because people tend to buy less.

I like getting there first thing - at 8am it's not usually busy so I can shop in relative peace, get home fast, put it away and get on with the day :)

^^^^ The trouble with that in ours is most times the fresh bread hasn't been put out yet and the special buy's on the leaflet are not there until later.

Italian made dried pasta and gnocchi at Aldi is good IMO. The pasta is 45p (reduced from 49p) about half the price of Sainsbury and the gnocchi is 69p about 50p less than the big supermarkets.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

I call in on my way home from having a fun evening. It takes up about 10mins of my time and is completely stress free. Bonus :)

The store I visit usually has a load of staff re-stocking the shelves during the evening so it's not usually a problem.

I tried the gnocchi last week. Much better than any I've bought elsewhere and almost as good as the one I make myself.

Started buying the Lidl partially baked baguettes again ( 39p for either 2 big ones or 4 small ones ). Perfect combination with a few bits of bacon for my breakfast this morning :)
