ICICI have debited £800 from my account following the set up of £100

I'm SO unimpressed, got my weekly message from first direct and noticed that there were 5 x £500 debits to my ICICI account.
Called first direct to check and see what was going on. They've actually done 7 and another was arranged for tomorrow. The dd has been cancelled so tomorrows will be recalled.
In January I set up 1-one off payment and a monthly amount of £100 per month.
I'm now nearly £400 overdrawn.
I'm going to have a right @rse on sorting this out.

I jumped into the opportunity of opening this account when it was first mentioned by a couple of MSE'rs about 2 years ago. At first it was smooth sailing and never had problems until they introduced some upgrade on their systems which to me it was downgrade as terrible problems I have encountered.
I have then closed my account last month and would never look back. I would never trust them again even if they'll make it on top of the savings table.0 -
have called them and the girl i spoke to logged a complaint. i asked for the money to be returned by telegraphic transfer and she said they couldn't. I asked why and she couldn't give me a straight answer but suggested i log onto my account and arrange for a transfer to be put through, i said thats going to take a min of 3 days i want it sorted tomorrow plus only £300 is showing as being cleared at their end.
I'm expecting a call back tomorrow regarding a tt but wont hold my breath.0 -

That sounds scary, real scary. A lot of us bank with these people and it is very troubling. I wish you luck.0 -
I had the same problem,
What I find now it is better to transfer money from your current account to your ICICI account rather than setting it up from ICICI account. The customer service side isn't very good. It took them a month to reply to an email and they decided to change account numbers from 10 digits to 9 not communicating this. It took a half an hour phone call to sort out.
I think things have settled down now, other than this no more problems to report, the interest gets paid and after the gliches that's all that counts.

I thought the DD terms are if any problem, they will compensate you anyway?!
These small prints are in all DD instruction.0 -
I've had issues with ICICI too.
Firstly, their website was broken, and so I couldnt transfer funds out of my ICICI account.
So I messaged them, telling them about this. Meanwhile I got it to work about 14 hours later, through trying every hour.
They replied to my mail almost 2 weeks later, appologising for the site not working.
So, I replied back saying "Was your reply button also broken for 12 days?"
I got a reply 9 days later appologising for the lack of service, and that they are "constantly trying to improvise their service". :rotfl:
I have just about stopped laughing at the gaffe!0 -
Their reply
"Dear Ms. King,
There is a recurrent transfer for GBP100 with a daily frequency due to which the funds are being credited from your account on a daily basis. The ref no for the same is *******. We request you to write to the Account Manager for the cancellation of the same."
How does this explain the following -
05/02/07 £100
06/02/07 £100
08/02/07 £100
08/02/07 £100!
08/02/07 £100!
08/02/07 £100!
09/02/07 £100
12/02/07 £100
I arranged a monthly transfer.
I called them today after they didn't contact me saying their normal reply is 3-5 working days. How is this normal!!!? Surely in exceptional circumstances as I see this being normal procedure goes out the window and things get stepped up a gear. That's certainly what happens where I work, saying that nothing can be done until the team has dealt with the issue is utter rubbish.
I said I wanted a call back today with an update and have heard nothing.
Gona get on the phone in a sec AGAIN and give it hell.
Daily frequency - 1 per day, not ranging from 1 - 4.0 -
We put a fair bit of money into ICICI when it first opened - about £12k I would guess. In order to put the money in as quickly as possible, we transferrred it in £2k stages about a week apart.
Mistake 1 - we tried to cancel instructions after they had been submitted. Wrong thing to do - they can't cope with you changing your mind. Multiple debits from the linked account (why do they all seem to need "linked accounts" these days??) took us overdrawn. It got sorted and the money seemed to go back into the account.
Mistake 2 - we should have closed the account then, 'cause in August they took £2k from the account and told us the following day.
Many phone calls and letters later, we had to involve the FOS - ICICI just didn't know what they were doing and couldn't understand the system in their bank. We got the money back, together with some compensation though - three times the original offer!
We have today asked to close the account. No point in having an account if you don't trust the people operating it...
Think seriously before opening an account with ICICI unless your business is very straightforward and you don't need the money urgently for anything, you could find yourself rueing the decision !0 -
Hmm, I a DD problem with ICICI as well in October. I cancelled the standing order but they still took the money later in the month. As I needed the money desperately to pay my cc bill which was due in a few days, I used the DD guarantee through my current account to claw the money back. It was back in my currect account in 1 working day. The money showed up at ICICI 3 days later, I already sent them emails notifying what they've done and that I've used the DD guarantee to get the money back. Finally, after another week, the money was deducted from my ICICI account. I have cancelled the DD from my current account and now only "send" money to ICICI via current account.
Have not had any problems since.0 -
