Firstly Im sure there are dodgy salesman and practices, but this happens in any industry, its unfair to slate everyone with the same brush
Secondly the bbc use soundbits and overexaggerate, I bet any good service they did see was quickly forgotten
As for sayin the price is £800 - do you know that for a fact? or just because the bbc quoted it for one product
Im not doubting there can be dodgy salesmen etc but the fact is I dont think every salesman or company in this industry are at it and im sure some offer exceptional service
The products are expensive though through their nature and I dont think everyone being charged £3000 for these sort of products has been ripped off as the bbc tried to claim
I have to say the bbc probably caused more concern than they saved
I bet there are a lot of scared pensioners this week who have no reason to be due to the bbc's once again one sided scare mongerin
To finalise im not accusing them of lyin but I do believe they ensure they cause panic and overexaggerate everything and scar a company and industry with bad press for the actions of individuals0 -
The £800 figure came from a member of the Rogue Traders team who went undercover at the company's head office. The programme actually showed a secret film-clip she made where the sales manager said that they "sell" the beds to the salesmen for that price and then these salesmen are free to charge what they like. So they hike the price up to thousands of pounds and then split the profit with the company.
The BBC didn't have to exaggerate. The performance of that salesman said it all, with his phoney medical gobbledygook and his scare tactics. And don't forget the BBC chose this company for good reason because of the complaints they had received about them. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Hello I am the MD for Puresleep and I strongly resent the fact that you think that your mother in law will not get her deposit back, firstly it was for £1670 and not £1760, also I gave my direct line number to your mother in law, I also informed you by email yesterday that I would return the deposit in full, that has gone first class this morning, so I would appreciate that you tell the other users of this site when she recieves it.
My company has traded for 3 and a half years, we do not try to conceal our history or location, yesterday after the programme I took every call from every person and reassured them, so the 2500 customers we have are safe in the knowledge that their guarantees are safe.
What you don't understand is that I knew this footage had been taken 6 months ago in May, I also knew when it was going to air. It would have been easy for me to change the name or shut the company 3 weeks ago and have saved all this slander, but I didnt..........the reason, because I truly believe that the service we offer to the elderly, helps them more than you think.
The BBC were given the chance for a full interview with me on the basis that they show the whole interview, but all they want to do is show one side of the story, the reporter removed confidential information from this office but thats ok because its the BBC!
I could go on and on about entrapment, but I wont, the last thing I would want to say is about the lady in scotland that was shown on wednesday night.
Mrs S as I'll call her placed an order for a Double bed and paid a deposit of £2000, she phoned up 5 days later to cancel....(within the specified time frame) and recieved a full refund, the other lady accepted delivery of her bed and loves it and the 3rd person they talked about didn't exist.
As I've said I could go on and on if any person wants to talk to me please ring you can get the number from the website or email me for it.
As a parting note the BBC have been in trouble alot recently for rigging competitions etc, if you choose to believe what you saw then so be it, I on the other hand have taught myself to understand that there are always 2 sides to the story.0 -

Yes I do know that people sell them for £600 to £800.......I do, but I didn't mention it because I didn't want it to look like advertising.0 -

Can you comment on what we saw in the film where the salesman was using meaningless medical terms, and saying that if the woman didn't buy the bed she would end up in a care home ?
Also you say you don't conceal your location. So why is there no postal address on your website and where is the "history" on your history web page ?What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

If the bbc wouldnt broadcast your whole interview, feel free to put a transcript of it,as it would have been, on here.
I dont think I would be too surprised that investigative journalists used underhand tactics .
What was the material they removed, and are you condemning all dishonest conduct shown on the programmme?0 -

I suppose It could be so all those angry relatives cannot get near to the nasty people that are intimidating the elderly:mad:

I think it is very brave of the MD for Puresleep coming on here as we all hate to see people getting ripped off (especially pensioners). However it is probably more to do with a desperate attempt to salvage anthing that may be left of the company after the TV program.
Maybe the BBC didn't broadcast the whole truth, but the reason he isn't taking legal action is more likely to be because once the court heard all the evidence against Puresleep, they would probably throw any action against the BBC out of court. And I'm sure that if there wasn't any truth in the BBC's claims, then he would have complained to the Broadcasting Standards Comission (there is rarely any smoke without fire).
The whole reason I joined MSE was because I realised how many people get lied to and conned by many big stores, so I came on here to give people the truth. And would you believe it, quite a few people actually believe the lies and sales pitch they have been given and argue the point with me, when all I am trying to do is help people and stop them getting ripped off.0 -
Well please do let us know if you Mum does get her full refund as promised above, or whether Puresleep have proved themselves to be just another bunch of lying scamsters that prey on the elderly and vunerable."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
From our own experience perhaps we can have a few answers from the MD as to why when my mother-in-law was called, she was told that they wanted to come to her house to purely do a demonstation on a device that would help back pain and arthiritis. When she was asked if they were selling something, she was told no. They did not leave any contact info, so she couldn't cancel the appointment if she had wanted to. Why was she asked over the phone if she had a husband? Surely if they were a reputable company and the product was so good, why didn't they just say what they were selling and let the product speak for itself. If our refund cheque is received and cashed okay I will let you all know. I am just glad that the BBC do show these programmes, because at least it does make us wary over who we should be dealing with.0
