There are now two interesting postings on the Bristol paper's website:-

Well I made my money and lots of it, why should I care about those that have come to the scheme to (sic) late.

I don't know if that person is being truthful, or just ironic.

    and

I am in this scheme and not only does it look likely that I will loose (sic) my money but the OFT has just got in cotact (sic) with me as well. I am seriously considering telling them everything I know.

    Now that does sound intriguing.

I would love to know what was in people's heads when they get involved in this scheme.

Are they really mathematically challenged and don't understand that a pyramid scheme shifts money upwards not creates money.

Or are they quite heartless and as long as they're all right jack then who cares who else has lost money:confused:

One of my clients contacted me at work TWICE to try and drag me into this. I no longer take calls from them. Said client was very convincing, and it's easy to see how impressionable or desperate people could get sucked in.

I've half a mind to report said client.

Interesting stats. from the OFT :-

Consumers, often friends or relatives, are asked to pay to become a member and are promised large commission earnings if they recruit others to the scheme. If enough new members join, the pyramid will grow, possibly enabling some members to make money. But, in order for every member to make money, there would need to be an endless supply of newcomers.

    • Yearly cost to UK public- £420m.
    • Number of victims - 480,000.
    • Average loss per victim - £930.
    • Victim profile – Nearly three-quarters of victims are aged between 35 and 64."

Just to update this thread, this comment has appeared on the Bristol paper thread:-

We have recently had a meeting in London to sort out the problems caused by the media frenzy...........
We are back on track and making more payouts due to our expansion into new areas.

So it looks as though they are running out of suckers in the Bristol area and are moving out to other parts of the country to rope in more suckers.

    For latecomers, extremely likely.

After the three arrests last month, two more women were arrested yesterday. That's very good news ! :-

Maybe that's why the OP has been so quiet lately - she's in jail.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested at her house in Whitchurch. She shouted at officers and locked herself in a bedroom but was eventually brought out of the house and put into a police van

    What was she shouting?
Probably "It's not illegal. You just don't understand how it works!"
    Happy chappy
