As you see, the trial might be transferred to Reading because of "all the publicity" (read into that what you may), and the delay was caused by all the paperwork involved.
Maybe (text removed by MSE Forum Team) and his Wonder Midgets just could not climb the stairs?0 -
Sorry about that, I have now corrected that link! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Justice seems to work a bit faster in USA - Bernie Madhoff only came to the attention of the Police in December 2008 for his masterminding of the worlds biggest ever Ponzi scheme. Six months later he was given a 150 year jail term!
Maybe the fact he pled guilty, sped up the process somewhat!0 -
Reading this, the disturbing thing is that alot of the people involved genuinely seemed to believe the b!!lshit. Although alot of people will be cynical and say giveandtake was simply on the take, i do think she believed the hype.
For example, she keep saying if it went bust 7 people would loose out, and could not grasp the fact it was exponentially higher than this.
Also for that apprentice women to appear in the watchdog STUDIO (not the 1st sting) and still spout the same rubbish, suggests she really believed it as well!
Oh so very depressing really.0 -
I have been trying to find the latest news on this story. According to press reports the 11 women were supposed to have been committed to appear at Bristol Crown Court on May 28. That's all I can find. I don't know if the trial has been postponed and cannot find any other news about it. Has anyone else any information? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Just an update on this case. This from the OFT website:-
The defendants appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court on 14 April 2010 and were committed to the Crown Court for trial. A first plea and case management hearing was held at Bristol Crown Court on 28 May 2010; another plea and case management hearing is expected in September 2010.
The case is certainly taking time to come to a conclusion. I image there is a very long paper-trail to pursue. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Another update regarding the court case. This OFT document indicates that the 11 defendants are appearing in Bristol Crown Court on April 11, with the actual trial scheduled for September 2011.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

At last there is movement on this story:-
11 women deny pyramid scheme charge
So probably another year before the case gets to court. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Yet another update (of sorts). The court cases are going ahead but, because of the way the prosecutions have been split into two separate court cases, then there are severe restrictions over the reporting of the cases. It looks as though nothing new will emerge until the spring of next year.
One other piece of news:-
'I was conned' says head who presented illegal pyramid scheme to staff
A faith-school headteacher who called a staff meeting to explain an illegal "pyramid" money-making scheme that he had invested in has been found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
Chris Raymond, who was head of Nailsworth CofE Primary School in Gloucestershire, was found to have given an after-school talk to teachers about the Give and Take scheme, also called Key to a Fortune.

Been a couple of years since this died down now. Must be ripe to start up again with loads of new victims.0
