Another "he only wants to play" rant

  • You see, we have park rangers in Wanstead Park - the last thing I want is the stupid woman whom I have seen ONCE in 5 years is to "report" me and to be banned from the park/woods if this was going to be her word (English with a small dog) against mine (bl....y foreign with a 40kg of a dog).

    Sigh.....

Silly cow, I'd get in there first "Woman in a posh coat with a bad tempered little [STRIKE]f******[/STRIKE] I'm mean terrior, I think other dog walkers should be warned that she has no control over her [STRIKE]self[/STRIKE] dog"

    YDSM
I wish I would take my own advice!

"why not let your dog off?" comment. He got an angry "why not get your dog on?"

Shoot me down in flames here, but dogs off the lead will tend to sniff and mix at their own pace, when they are on a lead they are very defensive. Very few dogs actually want to rip another dog to bits.

I was very fortunate where I used to live, I knew a lot of the owners, and everytime any of us had lost a dog :( and got a new one a few months later, we'd meet up. If the owners chat in a friendly manner, the dogs will tend to get on with each other. It got to the stage where new owners, would ask if they could join us, just so their dogs could interact and socialise. There's nothing nicer than saying to your dogs "ooh look, there's benji, bertie or whoever" and see them galloping across the playing fields to greet them. We even had a terrier, Holly, that would sit in our porch, waiting for me to take my two out to play.

Ironically the only dogs they ever got uppity with, were the poncey show dogs that were never allowed to mingle and were kept on leads the whole time.

To be honest, I can't remember most of the owners names, they were known as Mrs Harvey, Mr Tigger etc.

I guess London is a bit different.

I was walking a friend's whippet who is easily scared and a big lab started to have a go at her, she lay down behind my legs and was whimpering. I shouted at the owner to call the dog off and I was told to 'f off back to your caravan' - I'm Irish.

Nearly two years later he came into my work for an interview. Funnily enough he didn't get it :P

If we were left to our own devices, it just shows that dogs would get on much better than their owners would.

No it is not different, not where I am anyway.

Regular people know one another and the dogs and yes very often it is a case of "Zara, look who is that? (insert dog name)" and them happily running towards one another.

Those dogs know each other, owners do too (although not each other's names, as you say "Shira's mum" "Toto's dad" etc etc)

Today's woman - never seen her before, her dog was not under control - I got a mouthful.. that is different.

Fingers crossed you never see her again! If that's her behaviour people will soon avoid her.

Maybe time it so you are there at the same time as Toto and Shira, it would make it more daunting for a snappy newbie (ie dog + owner) to butt in and get mouthy.

Sounds mad, but it's almost like getting into the gang mentality for dogs and their owners.

Oh, we do not plan to meet as such, we just tend to bump into one another and as we know one another and each other's dogs.. and then walk together for a bit and we let them get on with it... then meet someone else and do the same... Wanstead Park/Flats is a massiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee green space, fantastic for walks/dogs

It is the dogs we do not know that a common courtessy is (generally here) to keep your dog with you and watch the reaction.

Now, I KNOW my girl does not like strange dogs running up to her all jumpy etc and that is why I made her sit and was holding her collar as I could see what the dog was "planning" before he even started to run towards us...

    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
