I am originally from Poland, lived here all my adult life though, since 1991.. time flies..... LOL

Going totally off topic here getting ready, I'm half Polish (Dad's side - came to England after the war), can you please explain why toilets are named WC's in Poland - I thought it was such an english word for Water Closet?

PS. You did the right thing with your dog, she just sounds very inexperienced, and a right mare with an attitude.

So you've been here longer than my DD. Technically. What with her being 12 and all. Makes you a native, in my eyes (if you wish to be) :D

LOL Have a British passport since 1994 ;)

BUT I have an accent and I am "assumed" to be a post EU arrival... sigh....

You sound like I did yesterday I had steam coming out my ears . My gs was sat behind me while a spaniel had a right go at her, owner no where to be seen a man had to come over from the bus stop to grab hold of this dog. While thanking the man owner comes round then corner and says oh she doesnt like alsations and carried on walking. I nearly exploded .

Read my last post in this thread.

Anyhoo now I'm on a roll.

I have twice had to attend A&E because of schitty little dogs attacking my Labrador and biting me.

We know your kind, bigger dog owners...

Bet the little dogs just wanted to play and YOU pushed your limb inside their "cute little faces" and held it shut - just to spite their owners

    ;)

I tend to find the "if you don't get your dog under control and away from mine, I'm going to let her off the lead and let her get on with it" approach usually works quite well.
Luckily no-one has ever taken me up on the offer as a) I wouldn't actually do it and B) mutt would never defend herself in a month of Sundays.

What works for me is 'I don't want to hurt your dog or you, but once my dog is hurt all bets are off and after I've got your dog you are next (obviously I can't really say that if they are much smaller/older than me, a woman or a child, but I will say that I will hurt their dog).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for trouble but I love my dog and if anyone or anything hurts him then they are going to be in very serious danger.

You see, we have park rangers in Wanstead Park - the last thing I want is the stupid woman whom I have seen ONCE in 5 years is to "report" me and to be banned from the park/woods if this was going to be her word (English with a small dog) against mine (bl....y foreign with a 40kg of a dog).

    Sigh.....

I've got a sheltie with fear aggression and like most of you I'm sick of out of control dogs running up to him, Arran is the way he is due to a certain dog who would jump on him continually when he was a pup and the owner couldn't control it. I eventually got fed up one day when I saw it running at him for the umpteenth time, I thought sod it and let him of his lead when it got within a few feet of him, he flew at it and it backed of, it came at him again a few seconds later again I let him of the lead, it backed of. The third time it came flying at him it actually ran up and flopped on it's back, I wish I'd let him have a pop at it months before and he might not have been as bad as he is. I know I was taking a chance as the other dog is a boxer with a bad reputation but I also knew that no other dog had stood up to it before and I was no more than a couple of steps behind Arran. The same dog a while later ran up to my daughter who was in the park and coming to meet me ( she wasn't near me ) with her 6 week old daughter ( my grandaughter ) when the same dog ran up to her and tried to jump in the buggy, you can imagine the damage it would have done to a 6 week old baby if it's front paws had landed on her, the only reason it didn't land on her was that my daughter elbowed it out of the way. I did get a hold of the owner and tore her of a strip, I also told her that if I heard of anything like that happening again she would be reported under the DDA.
