It was quite apparent that the booking system didn't go live until almost 5.20pm.
However, a phone call to the booking line (after 15 minutes of trying to get through from just after 5pm) had the customer services agent on the other end claiming that it was the first she'd heard of any problems with the booking process and that bookings were flooding in at her end from 5pm.
This hasn't endeared this hotel to me. I won't be staying there in future.
Oh, and it's not a loss leader offering hotel rooms for a pound. Hotel rooms that sit empty make nothing, people who stay even in free rooms invariably spend money on other services within the hotel. They don't lose anything on it.
I got a room for £29 last time round and will be using it shortly. I've no intention of spending money other than (maybe ) for a couple of drinks in the hotel. I've other plans and sense other people might have too.
I really don't think anyone should expect nigh on infinite rooms for £1. There was bound to be some glitches in this, you can pay £29 and give it a go or take the moral high ground and pay more to stay elsewhere!MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

it says one £1 booking per person on their site and if found to have more than 1 than they have the right to cancel all of them...

Valentine's Day Offer is Now Closed
All 1,500 low cost rooms were sold by 5:30 PM.
We still have many more £59, £79 and £99 rooms available...0 -
Sorry I don't understand how they are being cheeky. Even their own website pointed out all rooms sold out in about 30mins last time they ran this offer.

Because they chose not to start the offer at the advertised time of 17.00, making people think that the offer had finished and that they needed to book at the full price. If they can't be trusted to offer a deal at the advertised time it doesn't say much for anything else they might do, or not do.
I shan't get caught again, and I shan't be looking to book any rooms with them again. Travelodge may have their faults, but they're cheap and the booking system isn't fixed.0 -
Got my confirmation email too! Thanks OP!0

What rubbish, it was obvious that the £1 rooms hadnt been loaded at 5pm, so it was a matter of sitting and waiting, which those with patience did. Nothing was fixed, it was a genuine offer for a limited amount of people. You cant say fairer than that. It was bad luck that you didnt manage to get a room, maybe you will be lucky next time.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I was pleased it was delayed as after having the html site at the top of my bookmarks since Monday, I had to go out and didn't get back till 5.10 At first I thought they'd all gone, but then realised when the flash site was completley white that they hadn't been loaded yet.
Anyhoo with some perserverance and roboform set to autofill I managed to get a £1. My sister also got one, so they were definatley available and it's no con.
This deal is always going to be mega popular, but thanks to the very first poster back in August we stayed there in October in 2 rooms for 2 nights for £60 and was there again last Saturday at full rates.
It is a lovely hotel and even at full price is very reasonable and convenient for London.
Anyone who has children and wants twin rooms try for 328/326 and I assume 2, 4, 5, and 6 (28 and 26), these are adjoining double and twin. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0
