Ebay Bought iPhone 4S 16GB for £400 no phone sent

Received this from ebay today:

'We'd like to let you know that eBay has ended an item you were bidding on because the item appears to have been listed without the account holder's permission. We are now restoring the account to its original owner. For privacy reasons, we can't share any further details regarding this member's account.

As eBay removed the item, you are no longer obliged to send payment for it. Please don't send money or respond to any emails regarding this listing:

Strange though. I think the seller is saying his account was hacked to ebay. Which is not true.

I am still very very new to ebay but I know lots of people who say that it is a really safe way to shop as ebay are tradionally very strict.

He already is back. Those other listings are clearly him, and one of them has even bought stuff from him and left positive feedback.

I thought ebay were investigating the potentially linked accounts? Although I guess if they can't prove a link they can't do anything.

I doubt eBay are investigating. Probably just something they said on the phone but not followed up.

Well they have took down the listing which i bought and i rang them again and said to me to escalate to ebay after 24/1/12.

You should have opened a paypal dispute straight away, once the seller has withdrawn the money to their bank account there is naff all they can do to get it back.

Buyer protection is a load of rubbish.
