In regards to this, if I set up a new paypal and ebay account under different details etc. and won a bid on something that was clearly a scam how could I get around not having to pay for it? obviously if it was a clear fraud attempt by the seller, I don't want to actually spend any money.
If it was just sent by first or second class then I am assuming I could simply state that it hadn't arrived? Is it as easy as that? (obviously in this case I would need to pay first but may have a way around that too)
Could be fun!
I assumed someone created a new account with a hotmail account and false details. Just ignore the payment requests, or stall with a few questions to irritate the seller, but never pay. Just stalling long enough to protect a genuine bidder, and let eBay sort it out....0 -

Done. He is still messaging me with silly excuses and bad reasoning. He could have a lesson in english.0 -
I am angry at the people posting stating that the seller has technically told the truth/ He has not. The seller has posted a picture of an Iphone in a box. As far as the listing is concerned this is what the buyer is getting. At no stage has the seller said the picture is for illustrative purposes and therefore the phone in the picture should be what the buyer is getting.0

Reported that too looks like same seller judging by lack of English/decription
Definitely the same seller. There's a buyer with a similar name on the seller's feedback page.

That buyer has neg feedback for selling an iPhone box as an iphone:

Since when has the picture been the definitive description?
The description says 16gb iPhone box but everyone is conveniently ignoring this.
Is the seller wrong? Yes.
Should buyers read all info and take some responsibility? Yes0 -
IME eBay ones actually seem to use some "logic" rather than PayPal's arbitrary rulings.theonlywayisup wrote: »It's done now. The difference is that EBay are a bit longer and not as straightforward as Paypal disputes, but nothing so different that the buyer is at a disadvantage, so OP do not be concerned.
However, as a buyer I've been stung before - bought a monitor, it went faulty after a month - filed an eBay dispute, which basically said I've had it so long that I can't claim it's the sellers problem, and that as it was local pick up only (it wasn't, the seller couriered it...) I should of inspected it first... PayPal just would of said "return by trackable means and get a refund".
The listing is deliberately written in such a way to confuse the buyer - I assumed it meant "iPhone 4S 16GB Boxed"
To be fair it does CLEARLY say it DOESN'T include the phone.BargainGalore wrote: »another box seller

I have no objections to people selling boxes on EBay. However, like the above ad, it should clearly state does not contain phone or words to that effect. The one the OP bought, does state in the title it's a box, but the seller knew he wasn't getting £401 for a phone box. If it was a genuine mistake, the seller should have messaged the buyer to say do you realise this is just for the box (if he was honest).
Good Luck in getting your refund OP4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
