What kind of embossing DaisyFlower? I do a lot of embossing with my Cuttlebug, in all sorts of patterns, or do you mean heat embossing, where you stamp an image and sprinkle embossing powder over it and then heat it with a heatgun? I used to do that quite a bit, but gone off that because the powder went everywhere, lol0

Have a brilliant time, rainmac and wave to Cromer pier for me.
I like heat embossing and dry embossing too. If you are going to heat emboss try one of those anti static pads that you can swipe over your page before you stamp, that will help less of the powder stay on the page. I've heard somewhere that you can swipe your page with talcum powder and then wipe it away. It seems as though there is a difference in embossing powders. I'm getting results that I'm happy with using Tim Holtz Perfect Medium or a Versamark pad and his extra fine black embossing powder, a bit more expensive though.
Hi! Daisyflower, welcome to the most helpful place on the planet.
Just adding that my most favourite dry embossing folder is Swiss Dots made by Sizzix:whistle: Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
Rainmac - I'm sure he didn't even notice and at least his friends couldn't take the mick out of him - you know what boys are like.
If it's anything like when DD stayed away they were too busy nattering to sleep anyway :rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Craft ban?! Why ban yourself from crafting (or is it just that you are banned from shopping?)
Yes that is what i meant!:rotfl:
i really need to start stamping again, i have bought loads of LOTV die cuts and me to you toppers, and keep using them because it's quicker, but my stamps are just sitting there
Rainmac, enjoy your weekend camping, the weather looks better today x0 -
flourgirl, what guillotine/paper trimmer did you buy to replace your old one? I just may be giving this horrible Purple Cows combo thing some flying lessons from a high window, it won't cut two thicknesses of card and as for the paper trimmer bit, 'nuff said!!! Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0

Thanks everyone for the replies.
The video on you tube used a heat gun after stamping and sprinking glitter powder on. It looked easy enough but then it usually does when somebody else is doing it :rotfl:
What would i need for both types of embossing? I only have cutters at present tool wise. Never thought i'd oogle paper until i discovered card making0 -
Daisyflower, for heat embossing, you will need a heat gun, an embossing ink pad and embossing powder and a stamp of your choice
For dry embossing you will need a die cutting machine, Cuttlebug, Big Shot or a grand Calibur and embossing folders. With all these machines you will be able to emboss using a folder or use metal dies for shapes.
If you can't go to the expense of a machine, check out Ebay for pre-cut die shapes. I often buy die-cuts before I buy the dies themselves, this way I can see if I will use the dies. There are lots to choose from, let us know what you would like to do and perhaps we can help. I would rather pay £1 or so and try the die-cuts that invest £16/18 in a set of dies I don't really use much. I always ask for them to be cut white so that I can colour them with Promarkers.
Promarkers???? Now, there's another story:whistle: Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
If anyone is interested this is the lady I bought stuff from here, really quick turn around.
Letraset themselves have got 20% off this weekend but I think that works out the same as Joanna Sheen and no postage with her shop. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0
