Buy a stash of bigger sized, already scored cards and cut them down to the right size. (beg/borrow a guillotine if at all possible as it makes a better cut and it's quicker).

Really pretty die cutting plate, Almond. The invites will look lovely!

Here are a couple of Christmas cards I made last month, I'm still a noob when it comes to crafty stuff.

Willow they're lovely, I especially like the button one:)
  • Oh, Willow, the cards are lovely! Like the tree of buttons! Have to admit that I'm a BIG gingerbread man lover, so my favourite is the Magical Christmas card. Great job Willow ... you certainly don't craft like a noob!

Hello Almond - sorry for the late reply. (I completely missed your post. Either it's rubbish eye sight or age! lol)

So long as your guillotine makes a good cut then you should get great results. Test the cut out first on some scrap paper and card to see how you feel about it. I think the only recommendation I have would be: to open the ready made cards to cut them, as keeping them closed can a) be too much for the guillotine to deal with, and b) not give you as neat a cut as you'll get if each card is opened to cut it.

OH!.... and MEASURE! Be sure to measure before you cut - because you can't 'uncut' anything! ;)

    http://tayloredexpressions.com/dies/mr-mrs-cutting-plate.html
the die is 4in by 5 1/4 and it says to fit a2 usa cards,
usa card a2 is 4 1/4 5 1/2 but I can't find any suppliers that do this size in the uk
    any ideas
Some card blank sellers will custom cut card blanks for you. Alternatively you could buy readymade card blanks and go to a local printer and ask him if he'll cut them for you. They have massive machines that will do them in one go. My local printer (we do use him for other things) cut a whole pile of odd-sized card for me for free. Try finding an independent printer who is usually more obliging. Also think about cutting your blank slightly larger than the finished diecut so that you have a nice border around. Are you cutting the diecut separately and then sticking it onto the card blank or just cutting straight out of the card blank? If it's the latter be warned it's not easy to get a straight cut each time. The best option IMO would be to have a coloured card blank, cut the die with white/cream card and stick it on.

    Hi!
I've been busy trying to get my professional bl*g set up and working on business ideas so I've neglected this thread and my crafty bl*g. Have joined in the stash busting thread so will hopefully get back on track here!
Macma- look forward to seeing your makes with the big shot.
    Willow- great cards!
