Hannah, did you say your cervix was still closed? Normally if cervix isn't ripe for a sweep it won't really have an affect.

Gillyx: I'm sure midwife said it was quite closed, think you're right, let's just hope she comes of her own accord!0

Thanks all for the welcome messages. Emsbet, thanks for adding me to the list

Triangle, yes it's my first baby - and they've predicted a weight of 9lbs 7oz! I know they can get these things wrong though, so I really hope they have - ouch!!
Big hugs to Ikkle.0 -

No problem
it makes me feel useful
9lbs 7oz! My grandma was a 12lber and that was in the 1930s! My sister's two were 7lbs and 6lbs 3oz so she's convinced I'm going to be the whose baby follows in my grandmother's footsteps!

Nutella - I had growth scans and the threat of induction because I was growing a 10lber. Even in labour the doctor was telling me what a big boy I was having, all 7lb 13 of him. Granted I was 11 days early but still. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Just a quick one from me as I am about to eat and pretend I am not seriously worried but I was told today I have Group B strep?!
Has anyone else had this in pregnancy? I'm 24 weeks and went to midwife 2 weeks ago to query thrush as TMI!
had lots of discharge and it was v smelly . Was told I needed swab this Monday by doctor which she did and she gave me canesten and told me to ring Thursday. It's seemed to have cleared up but now I was told I have Group B Strep by the receptionist and given amoxicillin as it needs to be treated in pregnancy.
Mr Google has scared me silly, can anyone share their experiences of Group b strep, antibiotics in pregnancy and labour with it? I've been told that I will have another swab 5 days after my 7 day course of antibiotics - is it possible for it to disappear if it is always possible? and am i totally discounted from a water birth? We have midwife next Friday but I know how much i will worry before then...

It can come and go during pregnancy Student_mrs, and they will re-swab you closer to your due date I think. If it's still present, from when you know you're in labour (waters breaking or contractions) you'l be hooked up to a drip with antibiotics. The main thing is they know about it, which is excellent. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
